MESA/Boogie California Tweed Guitar Amplifier | Demo and Overview with Doug West
Description
The MESA/Boogie California Tweed 6V6 2:20 1x12 tube guitar combo amp delivers coveted vintage tone and feel with modern upgrades for today's player. Powered by two 6V6 tubes, this single-channel amp provides a straightforward preamp and three power amp options via MESA's patented Multi-Watt technology, ranging from 20 watts to 1 watt for cranked tube tone at any volume. The California Tweed 2:20 is equipped with a Jensen Blackbird Alnico 40 speaker, open-back cabinet and footswitchable onboard reverb for added dimension.
Multi-Watt Power Provides Vintage Tone at Any Volume
MESA's Multi-Watt power amp gives players the ability to switch between 20 watts, 10 watts or 1 watt, allowing the 2:20 to achieve richly saturated tone for small gigs or recording sessions without excessive volume. The 20-watt setting produces headroom for articulate cleans and mild overdrive, while the 10-watt and 1-watt settings yield cranked vintage tone at lower volumes for home use.
Simple Single-Channel Design With Impactful Tone-Shaping Controls
The California Tweed 2:20 features a streamlined single-channel preamp with just four knobs for tone shaping but a variety of tones. The Normal and Low inputs provide two distinct voicings, with the Low input yielding a darker, bassier tone. The Volume, Treble and Bass knobs allow you to fine-tune the 2:20's tone and gain structure to suit your needs. Keep the controls at noon for an authentic vintage flavor or push the Volume knob into overdrive and roll back the Bass and Treble for a grittier rock tone.
Built to Last With Premium Components
As with all MESA/Boogie amplifiers, the California Tweed 2:20 is handcrafted in Petaluma, California, using premium components for reliability and tone. The fixed-bias, push-pull power amp design requires no adjustment and minimal maintenance. The finger-jointed solid pine cabinet, premium Jensen speaker and durable tweed covering provide an authentic vintage look and sound built to stand the test of time.
Perfect for Vintage-Inspired Players On the Go
Weighing in at just over 35 pounds, the California Tweed 2:20 is ideal for players seeking a highly portable yet full-sounding tube amp solution. The open-back cabinet provides wide dispersion, despite its compact size, allowing this single-channel amp to work well in a variety of playing situations from home use to small gigs. For vintage tone that won't weigh you down, look no further than the California Tweed 2:20.

This is a great amp!

The Mesa Boogie California Tweed 2:12 is great with pedals and has plenty of power for small to medium rooms without mics. The reverb is very deep and the high, mid, low, and presence are great for tone shaping a Strat, LP etc. The small, lightweight cab emits a full sound and is pretty thick for a 20 watt, 1x12 amp. The gain and master produce a wide range of sound from beautiful chiming clean to gnarly drive. I'm a happy camper. Pete Barbeck Carrollton, TX
Great tone even at low volume

I can get it to sound like my mid 60's bassman and you can get a slightly overdriven bite. The big thing is you can dial these sounds in at low volumes which is hard to do with a mid 60's fender amp. Great for blues sounds clean or with a little gain
