    I've seen a number of great acoustic players over the years using these to add some percussive flavor to their toe-taps while playing... I always thought they were homemade, but lo and behold, Mienl makes them! Now I have something to do with that "rhythm foot" when busking or playing solo, and the added sound creates dynamic interest as well depth! Thanks, Mienl - not sure how I ever lived without one!

    This foot tam has a nice bright sound. For a study in comparison, I purchased it and one of a different brand at the same time. The other tambourine, constructed with vertical jingles, has a mushy, sloppy tone. This Meinl tambourine, with its horizontal jingle orientation, is much more responsive than the other. The velcro strap is pretty handy for fast foot attachment and removal.
