Beautiful high quality craftsmanship on this uke

Beautiful high quality craftsmanship. Very well made. More than worth the cost. Be aware that the grain is very very dark, much darker than the image you see online. Nevertheless, it sounds beautiful and has a lot of little touches that make it seem like a much more expensive uke than it is. Extremely pleased with this purchase.

This is my first uke, so I don't have any experience with quality versus pricing. So, take this review with a grain of salt. I bought this on-line after trying other ukes out at one of their stores. There was no one there to help, so I pretty much purchased this one from the on-line description. I've only played with it a couple times so far, but it is a beautiful looking instrument. It sounds all right, I'm sure a more expensive instrument is richer sounding, but the sound is good, and is great for my first time uke experience. The description says "satin" finish. That apparently means the wood is simply stained rather than having a lacquer put over it like my guitar. The bridge looks unfinished, like they didn't sand down the wood. But I suppose that lends it a rustic look. Made in China. Playable right out of the box. Tuning issues, but they seem to be getting better. I don't think they stretched the strings at the factory, so the first time I played, it was going out of tune frequently. Overall, I'd recommend this for a first time uke purchase whether you're a beginner, or a guitar player wanting to try something else. If I keep playing, and want a second uke, I'll probably go with something of higher quality. Do your research!
