Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

The Ibanez EHB1506MS 6-string multi-scale bass is a pioneering instrument that provides an unparalleled playing experience. It features a figured poplar burl top and African mahogany body that produce warm, resonant tones. The nine-piece panga panga and walnut neck delivers a smooth feel and ample sustain. Stainless steel frets and a panga panga fretboard enhance clarity and durability. The multi-scale design creates balanced string tension for effortless playability.

Ergonomic Body Contours for Total Comfort

The EHB1506MS's ergonomic, headless design enables a comfortable playing position whether seated or standing. Its chambered body is lightweight yet resonant. The slanted back rests closer to the player for enhanced control, and extra carving behind the lower horn provides unfettered access to higher frets.

Premium Nordstrand Pickups for Powerful Tone

The EHB1506MS features a set of Nordstrand Big Split linear humbuckers that produce a muscular yet balanced tone reminiscent of P and J basses. A 3-band active EQ with variable midrange frequency and an EQ bypass switch for passive operation supply a variety of tones for any musical style.

Adjustable Bridge for Precise Intonation

The MR5HS bridge is designed specifically for Ibanez EHB basses. Each bridge piece attaches independently to the body for maximum vibration transfer. Saddles are adjustable plus or minus 1.5 millimeters for precise intonation. Teflon tuner washers provide smooth and accurate tuning.

Additional High-Performance Features

The EHB1506MS also includes durable Schaller S-Lock strap locks, a Neutrik locking output jack and a padded gig bag. A detachable finger ramp provides playing support. This cutting-edge bass synthesizes tonewoods, ergonomics and electronics into an instrument that redefines multi-scale performance.

  • Light, easy to wield, bass hindered by poor fit and finish

There are things that I love about this bass: the weight, the balance, the uniqueness. Despite being really expensive, it's probably my go to travel instrument just for the weight and size. Having said that, for the price the quality and fit and finish is really disappointing. The thin veneer is beautiful, but really thin and easy to damage. Beyond that mine was clearly not put together well. I alternate between playing with fingers and a pick and couldn't figure out why I kept hearing an odd noise when playing with the pick. Well, one of the four neck bolts was installed incorrectly and the washer is just rattling around, but the bolt is unable to be loosened or tightened, so obviously it was cross threaded on installation. My biggest complaint is the frets were not installed on the neck correctly, they actually hang off one side a bit and cut my left hand to shreds while playing fast. For the price it should have been comfortably playable out of the box, not needing as much work as a used guitar. I'd be really hesitant to buy another Ibanez after this experience.

I have never considered an Ibanez bass till now. Nothing wrong with them, just didn't catch my eye. This new EHB made me do a double take! All of its features can be found on other( much more expensive) bass guitars, but Ibanez put them altogether in a shockingly affordable package. Headless, stainless frets, fanned fret fretboard, chambered body, light, modern sound( really good sound in passive and active)all in a handy size. The engineers at Ibanez got it right! The looks are a bit disconcerting at first, but like the fanned frets, it grows on you quickly. I love this bass!
