The Royal Upright Y5 is based off of robot-assisted audiophile samples of a modern piano from Yamaha. This piano was painstakingly recorded at the state-of-the-art IK studio in Italy with AKG 414 microphones to capture the close-miking sound. DPA mics were used as the medium-distanced coincident pair. The more direct and intimate sound is best suited for jazz or pop soundtracks, vocal accompaniment and any setting where the sound of gigantic concert grand might be too overpowering. IK's team used a subtle technique perfected over decades to bring these samples to life. Pianoverse’s groundbreaking new engine uses completely redesigned round robin, voice management and other techniques to deliver a seamlessly authentic experience.

Pianoverse also shines with a unique combination of performance controls for stage and studio work. To customize each piano’s sound, Pianoverse offers adjustable lid position, harp resonance, pedal noise or even the noise of the piano mallets.
