Gibson

collapse expand iconDescription

The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s Limited-Edition Electric Guitar is a meticulously crafted reissue of a legendary model that shaped the sound of rock music. Gibson has recreated the iconic design down to the finest details, including a solid mahogany body with an AA figured maple top, a pair of BurstBucker pickups for searing lead tones and warm, subtle rhythm sounds, and a SlimTaper neck profile for fast, comfortable playing.

BurstBucker Pickups Provide Vintage-Accurate Tone

The BurstBucker 61R in the neck position and 61T in the bridge are made with alnico V magnets, just like the original PAF humbuckers of the late 1950s. They deliver the warm, articulate tone and controlled distortion that defined the rock guitar sound. Adjusting the volume and tone knobs gives you a range of tones from bright and cutting to thick and syrupy.

SlimTaper Neck Profile Offers Modern Playability

While the Les Paul Standard '60s recreates a vintage design, its SlimTaper neck profile provides a fast, comfortable playing experience that appeals to contemporary guitarists. The slim, rounded profile fits comfortably in the hand, enabling effortless chording, lead playing, and string bending. A rosewood fretboard with trapezoid inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets also enhances playability.

Premium Components for Robust Tone and Reliability

In addition to its high-quality electronics and pickups, the Les Paul Standard '60s features premium components to provide a lifetime of robust tone and rock-solid reliability. A one-piece mahogany neck is glued to the body, while a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece keep the strings securely anchored. Vintage-style Grover Rotomatic kidney tuners help the guitar hold tune through intense playing sessions.

A Piece of Rock History

The Gibson Les Paul Standard '60s brings back an iconic electric guitar model that shaped the sound of rock music. It delivers the tone, feel, and visual style that defined an era. For any guitarist looking to tap into that classic rock sound and feel, this reissue Les Paul is the real deal, available today at Guitar Center. /p>

The quality and tone are outstanding!

I had never liked the 60s style standards as much as the late 50s. I already had a standard 50s in tobacco burst with an absolutely beautiful top. I love that guitar. I was so impressed with the changes in Gibson and the attention paid to 50s, 60s, SG 61. etc. I also have an SG standard 61 that is the best SG I've ever owned. I really never thought I would buy a standard 60s, but I was so impressed with the original series, I started to look hard at them. I was torn between the iced tea and the bourbon burst, until I saw the LE triburst. The color of the finish is absolutely stunning, definitely different than the bourbon burst and certainly the tobacco burst. The first one I ordered from GC as they didn't have one in stock at my local GC. When the guitar arrived I was very impressed with the finish, and loved the tones I could get out of it. There was a problem however with the nut being cut too low on high e, b, and g strings. This caused fret buzz on the first 4 or 5 frets that I couldn't get out however I set it up. I decided to send it back and hope for the best from another one. Lucky for me, the Memphis GC had received 2 of them to their inventory. I went to GC with the first one in tow, and asked the sales guy if I could simp[y exchange it rather than shipping it back, or doing a return. The salesman said sure, so I tried both of their in stock models. The first I tried was out on the racks. The nut, and everything else about it were top notch. The sales dug out the second one from the back, where it was still unopened. This guitar also played and sounded great, but the top on this one was even better then the first in stock, and the one I was returning. I decided on this one, and brought it home. I adjusted the height to my low preference with no fret buzz. I also spent a while adjusting the pickup heights. It's and easy adjustment that can really improve the tone. I was very pleased that GC so easily exchanged it, and for a better looking top!

Great sounding, finish doesn't last...

Really loved the look of this guitar new, beautiful flame top and burst. Definitely more punch than a standard 60's, great for hard rock/G&R style tones. Dial down the volume for a more traditional tone. Unfortunately the clear coat didn't last two years and is starting to bubble. Of course it's not covered under Gibson's warranty. Never had this happen to any Fender, Charvel, Epiphone, ESP, Martin, or any other Les Paul that I've owned or used. Even friends with multiple LP's have never seen this type of finish bubbling, it's almost like a cross between sandpaper & braille. Nice playing guitar, not sure I'd buy another "limited edition" based on my experience with this paint. May end up looking for a used traditional or similar.

50's and 60's USA Les Pauls are thin coat nitrocelluose finish not the thicker enamel like the lesser versions. Can be affected by skin oils. Use a light coat of Music Nomad ONE spray weekly to protect, and wear a long sleeves if possible. Best guitars in existence so take care of it!

The build quality, sound, and looks of this guitar are top notch. I am very satisfied. I was hoping to lo e the 50's model, but couldn't get along w the thickness of the 1 that I got to try. I prefer the hardware of the 50's model.(only for looks bc both versions function wonderfully) But.. the guitar became my new #1 within a few hours. 'Nough said.

I've been trying to save up for a Les Paul for a long time and I came across this one trying it in the store. It sounded beautiful through a Marshall amp and I had to get it. It's great for jamming, practicing and I can't wait to perform with it one day. #sweepstakes
