Handpicked Walnut and Spruce for Timeless Tone

Handpicked Walnut and Spruce for Timeless Tone

At the heart of the J-45 Studio's voice lie a solid Sitka spruce top and walnut back and sides. This classic tonewood combination rewards you with a warm, articulate midrange, shimmering highs and robust low-end response. The spruce top rings out with projection and clarity, while the walnut back and sides contribute luxurious overtones. You'll enjoy the balanced, nuanced tone that has made the J-45 a studio workhorse for generations.

Slimmer Body Depth Enhances Playability

Slimmer Body Depth Enhances Playability

While the J-45 Studio's iconic dreadnought shape projects beautifully, its slimmer body depth offers a more comfortable playing experience. The body's reduced dimensions make it easier to grip the neck during chord changes and sit the guitar in your lap or against your body. This ergonomic design lets you play for hours without fatigue setting in. You'll feel inspired to write that next great song.

Advanced Response Neck Promotes Effortless Fretting

Advanced Response Neck Promotes Effortless Fretting

The J-45 Studio's mahogany neck extends playing comfort with its Advanced Response carve and rolled fingerboard edges. The hand-rolled edges make it easier to bend strings and play chords up the neck, while the Advanced Response profile nestles naturally in your hand. Topped with a walnut fingerboard, the neck provides a smooth playing surface for effortless fretting and string-bending. Mother-of-pearl dot inlays and a TUSQ nut complete the premium feel.

Plug and Play With Fishman Sonitone Preamp

Plug and Play With Fishman Sonitone Preamp

When it's time to plug in, the J-45 Studio's Fishman Sonitone preamp faithfully reproduces the guitar's acoustic tone through amplifiers and PAs. This premium undersaddle pickup system captures every nuance of your playing while minimizing feedback and boominess. The Sonitone's controls let you dial in the perfect EQ and volume levels for any stage or studio. From intimate coffeehouses to outdoor festivals, your amplified tone will shine.

With its timeless aesthetic, premium build and player-focused appointments, the Gibson J-45 Studio Walnut acoustic-electric lets you experience the magic that made the J-45 a legend. Feel this inspiring dreadnought in your hands and hear its rich, resonant tone for yourself.

Had one. Sounded strange. Thought it needed to climatize and the strings settled in. Didn't change. Fret buzz? Not really. Like dead frets near the body. Returned for a set up and they said they had 2 others returned with the same issues. Get a standard if you want a j-45. These walnut ones aren't tested and the neck is to flat causing the string to hit multiple frets and the action couldn't get raised. Took home an L-00 standard

  • Love it.

I bought this guitar because I was going to lead a worship time and my old guitar wasn't going to cut it. Nine months later I can say that this guitar is not only beautiful to look at but it has phenomenal action, a comfortable neck, and really unique sound. I have advanced in my playing because I love to play this guitar so much, I play constantly. Also, I can play way further up the neck than I could. Play it in person, it has a high trebly sound that may not be everyone's cup of tea.

I've had this guitar for a couple of years now and have been very impressed. I have compared it directly to much more expensive Gibsons and other brands and it sounds almost as good as those. The only thing is I changed out the Fishman Sonitone pickup for a L.R.Baggs Lyric pickup

Gorgeous guitar, Highly playable. I get complimented on the sound constantly. I play it all the time, because it 'assists' me by making me sound better due to the ease of playing. Good intonation. Keeps in tune. Pickup is good if you want to amplify the acoustic sound. Recommended.

I have a dreadnought guitar and never really thought I would want or need another one. I was at my local my local GC and picked it up just to see how this one sounded. I was blown away by the sound, but also really liked the slimmer size. I ended up ordering from Musicians Friend. The slimmer size and scale length make this a very comfortable guitar, while I feel not sacrificing the sound of a traditional j45. I also was drawn to this one over the use of American woods.

  • I would buy this product again.

I like the guitar and it sounds great. I would buy it again. My only complaint does not deal with the guitar but the advertising. A picture in the advertising shows the electronics mounted in the sound hole with a volume and tone. This guitar only has a volume control. Imagine my surprise. Exactly what I will do about it Imdon't know.

The natural finish of this guitar has STUDIO written on the headstock. The walnut-burst version does not; at least not in the picture anytway. Is there a reason for that and can it be confirmed that it isn't just a stock photo of the guitar? Because I think the walnut-burst looks better because it doesn't have STUDIO written on it.
