Overview

An updated version of the legendary amplifier that’s been the heart of many guitarists’ rigs, the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV features modified preamp circuitry, smoother-sounding spring reverb and updated aesthetics that any player is sure to appreciate. A supercharged amp decked out with player-requested features, this scorching 40-watt 1x12" combo is ideal for guitarists who need hot-rodded power with performance to spare.

The Hot Rod Deluxe IV includes a 12" Celestion A-Type speaker for well-balanced output with smooth highs, laid-back midrange and full, round lows. The modified preamp circuitry improves overdriven note definition, so you'll have articulate sound no matter how hard you push this amp. The updated aesthetics include a lightweight pine cabinet, improved control panel texture and graphics, ivory pointer knobs, steel-reinforced strap handle and lightly-aged silver grille cloth, giving it the unmistakable look and vibe you can only get from a Fender amp. Reliable, flexible and pedal-friendly, the Hot Rod Deluxe IV is an ideal addition to any electric guitarist’s amp collection.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I purchased new for a home amp. Turned it on, Went off standby and played for 20 minutes. Nice amp. Went to on standby, returned in 20 minutes and went off standby and the amp was completely dead. The lights on the footswitch and control board were on. Red crystal light dead. No sound. Main fuse is fine. I have owned Fender amps since 1973, Champ, Princeton, Super Reverb. No issues with these amps.

Returning it to swap out for new. Bad for Fender. Thank you Guitar Center for your excellent customer service! Hope this one works. I will place more stars on the rating when I can trust the amp to not die!

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I originally bought the floor model. unfortunately it had some issues right off the bat, but guitar center replaced it immediately. i have talked to multiply people who have this amp and they love it too. It sounds amazing with my Strat on the clean channel and the distortion gave a good classic rock tone in my opinion. I like to play anything from smooth jazz/blues to some Alice in Chains. This amp is great for those purposes. The amp distortion does not get it quite enough for some heavy rock, but i added a Super Bad MXR Distortion pedal and it gives me the heavy distortion im looking for. It takes all my pedals well, and offers a good amount of head room. It gets pretty loud as well, loud enough for garage jams with a band or small venues. Its not too heavy if you are looking for a gigging amp.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier:

This is a second review of my HRD IV. The first one died within 20 minutes. It was replaced without question by the folks at Guitar Center Cincinnati. I did want to make sure it wasn't me or my house electricity issue not firing up the amp. We fired it up one last time in the store. It was the amp.
New amp fires up every time. No issues.
Sound - The reason I purchased it. Incredible clean, chimey sounds with TELE and STRAT. I use it with a Big Sky. Outstanding. For jazz, JUST RIGHT. I use it with HERITAGE 575 and 535. Luscious, warm, great.
However, the overdrive and over-over drive wont bring the amp anywhere near my Orange TH 30. They are different amps for different purposes.
If you want heavy metal distortion look elsewhere. If you want CLASSIC LOUD CHIME and WARM JAZZ this is definitely worth a look.

Thank you again Guitar Center for you great customer service.
