Inside The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster | Fender

Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster | First Impressions with Liz Phair

Description
The Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster fuses Fender's comfortable solid spruce and mahogany SIRS Strat body with a cutting-edge pickup system for a kaleidoscope of tones. A real Fender N4 Noiseless single-coil is paired with a Fishman Matrix undersaddle pickup and percussive top sensor to shift between six distinct acoustic voices and sizzling electric leads with the flick of a switch. A rechargeable 20-hour battery supports continuous play so you can craft tone poems for hours on end. Whether you're conjuring country ballads or conjuring rock anthems, the American Acoustasonic Stratocaster is purpose-built to inspire.
Shape-Shifting Acoustic Engine
At the heart of the Acoustasonic Stratocaster is the innovative Fender and Fishman-designed Acoustic Engine. This sophisticated system combines three complementary pickups—a Fender N4 Noiseless magnetic pickup, a Fishman undersaddle piezo pickup and a Fishman top sensor behind the bridge—to deliver a spectrum of acoustic and electric tones with stunning realism. Select from six acoustic voices modeled on classic body styles like dreadnought, jumbo and parlor using the five-way blade switch. Dial in reverb, chorus and delay effects with the Mod knob for even more tonal variation. A separate volume control for the magnetic pickup lets you blend in searing electric leads and chunky rhythms on the fly.
Familiar Electric Playability
While the Acoustasonic Stratocaster sings with an acoustic voice, it maintains the slick playability of an electric guitar. Its Modern Deep C-shaped mahogany neck and 22-fret ebony fingerboard provide a smooth, low-action feel. And with a slim, lightweight SIRS body, supreme upper-fret access and contours modeled on Custom Shop Strats, this innovative hybrid plays as comfortably as your favorite electric.
Continuous Power for Non-Stop Inspiration
The Acoustasonic Stratocaster features an integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 20 hours of playing time on a single charge. A helpful LED indicator displays current battery level so you're never caught unplugged. Combined with the guitar's natural acoustic resonance, the battery-powered Acoustic Engine gives you a portable creative tool for crafting songs anywhere inspiration strikes.
Premium Gig Bag Included
Fender includes a rugged gig bag to keep your Acoustasonic Stratocaster safe in transit and storage. Padded side handles and a durable nylon shell protect the guitar from knocks and bumps, while an accessory pocket stows cables, straps and other necessities. Molded feet prevent wear and a plush lining cradles the guitar in comfort.

Very cool guitar.
I play in two classic rock bands, I got this guitar just as the Covid-19 was starting to shut things down. So I had plenty of time to play is at home and find the settings I like, which effects sounded good with it, and if it could be used without an amp going straight to the board. It seemed like a long wait, but we finally were able to resume rehearsals, outside. To save from having to lug a bunch of extra stuff to a rehearsal I just used my Harbinger MLS 900 and plugged my vocal mic in and my Guitar. Sounded good. Used my Zoom effects on the guitar. Last Friday (6-26-20) We played our first show since the virus. An outdoor gig. I brought my Acoustasonic and another Stratocaster. I did decide to play through my 60 watt Marshall amp. I used the Acoustasonic all night long. Playing acoustic rhythm and being able to switch to a lead electric at the flip of a switch was fantastic. I never felt like I should have switched guitars at all. I am not saying that I will get rid of my other guitars or never use them again, but The Acoustasonic Strat is VERY versatile and it will be at every show I play in the future. Bonus! It's light so no shoulder fatigue during a long set!

Great guitar! Just not for me
This guitar would be great for musicians doing live gigs on a regular basis. Both acoustic and electric sounds are available at the fiip of a switch. But the acoustic voicings don't match my 50 year old Guild and the electric voicings don't match my 40 year old Strat so I sent it back. Don't get me wrong; the guitar is awsome! Just not for me.

Absolutely excellent. after a 2+yrs ownership, couldn't be happier...a joy to pick up & play everytime. Sound is so versatile, acoustic or electric through the amps is so much fun. Looping brought to an entirely new level of enjoyment.

This is the first Acoustic/electric that I have owned that I actually love playing. The action is great even with the large gauge acoustic strings on it. Comes with a very nice gig-bag/case. I love the way the neck and back of the guitar looks. I also love the Strat 5-way switch that selects the degree and type of acoustic sound. The only downside with this guitar is the cover that serves as a cover for the electronics and pick guard. It looks cheap, more like a decal than a cover. I think Fender can do better on this detail for the price of the guitar. However, if you can get past that then it is a fine playing and sounding guitar. I have owned several Acoustic and Acoustic/Electric guitars. The action on even high-priced acoustics was so terrible I just ended up selling them. I also do not like the large back ends of most acoustic and acoustic electric guitars, but this guitar is small and easy to play. I would give it an A-.
Extremely Versatile Instrument. Fun and easy to play.

Yes, this guitar costs a lot, but it is a unique instrument and if you can get past the price, you'll find it is an amazing versatile instrument. It is literally like having several guitars in one. The electric tone and amped acoustic tone is lovely. Great innovation from fender.

How long should it be charged, or how do i know when it is good to be played plugged in?
A Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster Acoustic-electric Guitar's battery takes about 4–5 hours to fully charge. The LED on the output jack will glow red while charging and turn green when it's finished. Chargers that aren't USB-compliant may take longer.submitteda year ago

As an acoustic/electric I'm assuming you need to plug it into an amp? The specs are kind of confusing talking about a "preamp". Electronics Pickup/preamp: Fishman Piezo and mic EQ/Tuner: Mod Knob No
You can play this model plugged in or acoustically.submitted5 years ago
