EVANS

Description

The Evans EC2 drum heads in this EC2 SST Clear Drum Head Pack feature an Edge Control ring-mounted underneath two plies of 7 mm film. By controlling edge vibration instead of eliminating it, the ring isolates and damps higher overtones, enhancing low end and attack, and enabling a broader tuning range.

Evans for life

I have bee playing the EC2 clear heads for approx 2 years now and love them. I use them with my DDRUM Ash Dominion kit joined with the EMAD bass batter head and EQ3 resonate head on the kick. On the snare I use the Genera Dry and the sound is amazing! I am a former die-hard Remo man but, Evans gives me the focus and punch that exceeds Remo in my opinion. I play live in large and small churches and these heads controll unwanted overtones nicely. I highly recommend them!

Great sounding drum head, but requires clean up after use.

Just to start off I love Evans products and I love these heads. They sound great and have just enough dampening that I don't feel like I have to add moon gels or anything else to get the sound I want. Unfortunately it isn't all good news. The coating that makes up the black rings (what I am assuming are dampening rings) tends to flake off as you play. It didn't have an effect on the over all sound quality but it makes a mess inside your drums. I play a clear acrylic kit and it is very annoying to see little black flakes bouncing around inside of my cool looking drum kit. Clean up isn't super hard although I feel like it shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

Been using Evans GC 2 heads and they sound great but required Zero Rings to control resonant rings. These SST type heads seem to eliminate that resonate ring but maintains the drum tone.

These Evans drum heads for my Tom's definitely sound good, they come highly recommended by the guitar Center salesman and the individual that sold me the drum set.

If you want that fat focused sound and an easy to tune tom the EC2s are your best bet.
