  • For Me?

I'm using these on a TAMA Jam Flyer. I know they are small, but with these I wouldn't trade them for anything. What great tone ! It took one hit and was transported back to my first teacher who had one of those 1930's drum sets that a young boy trying to hit the small Tom would almost fall into the bass drum, but the sound, the sound was incredible. Calf skin heads. For Jazz, Dixieland, anything that the tone is the golden egg, this is closest. I'm hooked.

A solid three stars, great sounding head and love the look. Unfortunately, about an hour into my first use developed two blisters. Note: I was using brushes and was getting "hung up on sweep" when noticing the problem. Two bubbles developed on my first time using the calftone. As I mentioned, I really like the sound and look. As a solution: I'm going to lightly sand down the problem area and see what happens. Could update this review after continued use. Not giving up on the product just yet! Kevin

Love the low sounds on the toms and lack of overtones. The snare sounds so good when tightened till the washers squeal.

Really enjoy the low sounds on the toms and lack of overtones. The snare sounds so good when tightened till the lug washers squeal.

I got one for my seldom used 8" tom, because I couldn't find an 8" tone control ring, so I was going to cut one out from the old head, and I figured I'd try this new product. I noticed a slight dampening effect immediately. There was no need for a ring on that tom after all. I changed all my tom heads to these. They look great, but more importantly, I love the sound. I took all my Dampening rings off my kit, as I don't need them anymore. Purists may not love these heads, but I am crazy about them.
