Description
Ernie Ball's 2069 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Folk Nylon Ball End Acoustic Guitar Strings deliver a warm, balanced tone perfectly suited for folk and world music. These strings are made of 80/20 bronze-wrapped nylon that produces full, rounded notes with a percussive attack. The multifilament nylon core and bronze winding are precision engineered to Ernie Ball's exacting standards, ensuring consistency and longevity. Guitarists will appreciate the familiar gauge and ball end construction that allows for quick installation and tuning. Whether fingerpicking or flatpicking, the 2069 Earthwood strings enable fluid playability and resonant, woody tone.
80/20 Bronze Produces a Warm, Nuanced Tone
The 80/20 bronze winding wrapped around the nylon core gives the 2069 Earthwood strings a warm, mellow tone with clear, articulate highs. The bronze alloy consists of a striking a balance between the brightness of brass and the depth of phosphor bronze. This tonal profile pairs beautifully with nylon-string guitars, highlighting their natural resonance and woody qualities.
Multifilament Nylon Core Enhances Sustain and Feel
At the heart of the 2069 Earthwood strings is a multifilament nylon core that provides a resilient yet flexible base for the bronze winding. The nylon filaments are tightly twisted together, creating a core that maximizes sustain, enhances playability, and helps the strings hold pitch better over time. Guitarists will appreciate the familiar gauge, which yields a comfortable playing feel and balanced tension.
Precision-Engineered for Optimal Performance
All Ernie Ball strings are manufactured to the highest quality standards using state-of-the-art equipment and processes. The nylon core and bronze winding are carefully gauged and wound to ensure consistency across all string sets. Before packaging, each string is individually tested to guarantee maximum longevity, tuning stability, and tonal integrity. The result is a set of strings that plays, sounds, and feels like new for a long time.

Nylon runs with Steel!
I love tying the nylons to the bridge but I just had to try the 'ball-end' Ernie Ball Earthwoods. I'm a huge fan of the EB Earthwoods med gauge phosphorous bronze steel strings so these had to be good. They did not disappoint! Great, warm tone, comfy on the fingers yet bend easy & durable. No problem tying to the slotted head stock, either. These should last awhile. If you're an EB fan already, these are your classical strings. If not, you're missing out!. Highly recommrnded!

Stretch Too Much- Ball End Convenience Sacrifices Sound
Although these strings do offer the convenience of a ball end, they stretch for days after installation. Constantly having to tune and re-tune. Sound is ok. Good and economical for practicing. That is about it.

Used on a classical acoustic electric solid body guitar. It sounds like nothing else I have ever heard. Mellow and not stifled in any way.
Love it!

I used these on my dad's old Gibson J-45 guitar. I have used several other brands but the Ernie Ball strings make this guitar sound the best to me. I am now using the phosphor bronze ones because they last longer and sound a little bit brighter than the 80/20.
Great sounding strings!

I'm a beginner and have a Yamaha acoustic with steel strings. Was wondering if you guys could replace them with nylon? I'm looking for something easier on my fretting hand.
No, they won't work.submitted3 years ago
