Ernie Ball launched their 2008 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Rock and Blues Acoustic Guitar Strings, and they are flying off the shelves and into the hands of guitarists who want that classic Ernie Ball sound and guitar strings that are built to last. Ernie Ball boasts their entire 80/20 Bronze string collection to have a “bright and balanced tone,” and these bronze rock and blues strings have an added grit that truly beefs up your tone.

Strings Guitarists Love and Trust

Ernie Ball is the world’s dominant manufacturer for instrument strings because no one can beat their highly dependable and pristine tone quality. Musicians feel truly confident when their guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, or lap-steel are strung-up with Ernie Ball products and fully rely on great-sounding tones for every performance.

Greatness Takes Time to Procure

Back in the day, Ernie Ball tried to persuade many large guitar manufacturers to create a line of thinner guitar strings because he foresaw the tone range potential, but no company realized the true need for newly designed and innovative instrument strings. Since establishing his own successful string line, Ernie Ball strings have been showcased in hundreds of top-selling albums across all musical genres and have decorated the guitars of some the most famous musicians on the planet including The Rolling Stones, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Paul McCartney, Pete Townshed, Aerosmith, Metallica, just to name a few.

A Successful Combination of Quality Materials

Ernie's 2008 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze rock and blues acoustic guitar strings are made from 80% copper wire and 20% zinc wire, wrapped around a hex-shaped tin-plated steel core wire. They provide a edgy and articulate punch with full-bodied overtones that guitarists love.

Ernie Ball 2008 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Rock & Blue

Overall I am very happy with these strings. This is the first time I ever bought them and I plan on buying them again. Has a great sound to them. It has a little bit of a twang but just the bluesish kind not so much as to make it country. I have had these strings for 3 months and the sound has not diminished near as much as other strings I have had. Also on the lower strings when you slide your fingers along them I do not notice the rasping sound as I do on most strings. These are great strings especially for someone who can not afford to change them often.

I didn't care for them

I've been using Earthwood strings on my Gibson J-165, and I like them just fine. I recently purchased a new Taylor 214e DLX. and I did not care for the sound. The strings have an overly metallic tone, and especially the G string, which is not bound in this particular set. These strings are lighter than I usually use (10 on the high E), so it may be that I just need thicker strings. I'll go back to the standard Earthwood strings, or my old favorites, Martin Marquis lights.

I have been experiencing with different string blends and I stumbled across these... I love them! I like the bright top tones these strings bring. They are super flexible for soloing! I have smaller hands amd fingers so the thinness is an extra benefit! 10/10 recommend!

  • Use this brand always

These string play very nice on my cutaway electric Yamaha. The tone is great for rock and blues. The strings bend real nice and easy for solo bending strings etc. I would definitely buy again when tis set wears out!
