Dava

collapse expand iconDescription

Dava Rock Control Picks feature a larger control area and insert molded tips for the best sound. Made from Delrin, a very smooth material that glides over strings for a fast action and is used by rock, jazz, and fusion players. Dava's multi-gauge grip gives you the dynamics of multiple pick gauges on the fly--simply choke up on the tip for a hard gauge or release the flexible center section for a soft gauge.

I am a beginner and I ...

I am a beginner and I love this pick. With other style picks I had been fumbling but I have great control with this one. Easy to hold. The Dava celluloid is also good but the sound is lighter. My favorite pick so far.

I was intrigued by the idea of going from a light to a heavy gauge so I picked up a pack of these. I prefer a heavier pick, maybe in the range of .80mm to .95mm. I would say these range more around .50mm to .70mm, even while holding it at the "heavy" line. The main problem here is that because the middle is flexible (to facilitate the gauge change) you never get the feel of an actual medium to heavy pick, there will always be a little give while playing. This might not be an issue if I could use it strictly as a light gauge pick for strumming, but the other problem with these is that in order to get the "light" pick, you have to hold it near the end which for me personally is an awkward way to hold a pick as I tend to hold picks closer to the tip. This is actually another problem as my grip tends to extend even past the heavy line when holding these. This puts the bump in the front right under my fingers, which feels awkward. I gave these 3 stars even though I ended up returning them because while I may not have liked them, they may work for someone who is okay with a light to medium pick, and holding it in the middle. TLDR; the flexible middle prevents it from being a real medium to heavy pick, and the light line is too far back to use it as a light pick.

I've been using these for a few years and now I can't use any other. It's the perfect design for playing with a firm grip or light grip for dynamics. They don't rotate while playing like other picks due to their convex shape. Definitely worth the extra cost.

  • Nice Pick👍🏻
