Fun and versatile guitar, plus high quality

Was lucky to find this guitar in stock at the Hollywood Guitar Center. I actually bought it without plugging it in. Stupid yes, but the guitar intrigued me from the YouTube reviews I saw. The neck is silky smooth. The hardware is solid and beautifully placed. I was looking for a Les Paul, but this one caught my attention because it was a little lighter than a LP. And besides, honestly the Les Pauls were not consistent, same models seemed different. And I was a bit confused about all the different models. D'Angelico only makes two versions of the Atlantic, it was easy to choose one, the Deluxe. The thin neck is perfect for my smaller hands and my age, which means I appreciate the ease of playing this neck. The versatility comes from being able to split both or either of the bridge and neck pickups. The neck feels very Gibson like, but less wide. I also play an SG Standard, the neck is wider on the SG. This was also the first guitar I've owned where I used locking tuners. Was a bit skeptical at first, but they work great and make string changes easy. The bridge pickup really shines the best for me. The neck pickup is a bit bassy for me, but I'm older and probably don't hear the higher tones like I used to. It fits well when sitting, but it is neck heavy when standing to play. I fixed the neck heavy problem by using a padded guitar strap. No more neck dive. The color, details and high quality hardware plus versatile sounds, make this a dream guitar for me. Thank you D'Angelico!
