Many other manufacturers have tried to recreate the Celestion Blue sound in a higher powered driver, and some have come close. But only Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and response of its own Alnico classic in a modern driver that's perfect for single or multiple applications in cabinets or combos.

The power handling of the Original Blue speaker was limited by the material used in the construction of the voice coil. After hundreds of hours of testing and countless prototypes, Celestion has developed a coil that can withstand higher levels of power but leaves the tone unaffected. Such a relatively simple, yet important, development lies at the heart of a truly remarkable new guitar loudspeaker.

    This particular speaker is being used in a 1-12" cabinet with my Victory V40 head. I've used these speakers in several amp combos by various manufacturers and they always seem great to my ear. The intent of this purchase was to reduce my footprint on stage and reduce the weight at the end of the night load out. I could have gone with a neodymium speaker for even lighter weight, but having been very pleased with these speakers I opted to stay with proven sonic quality.

    Replaced what is probably a Seventy 80 in an external cabinet for a Fender Super Champ X2. The Celestion Gold at 50 watts starts to sound sweet at lower volumes than the stock speaker, making it more suitable for home use. Has more punch. Sounds gorgeous. Price is the only downside, but I would do it again. Love it.

    I have a 3rd power cabinet and I replaced the previous speaker which was the G12H 70th Anniversary for the Gold. It made a huge difference. If you don't have a good ear you will still hear the difference that's how much it changed. I only use Gold Alnico after this buy.

    Put this in a Franklyn Amps Tweed 5G9 build (great amp btw) Not even broken in yet, and it already sounds awesome. Really compliments this circuit well imho. Tried with a Tele, P90 LP Special, and a Gretsch. All sounding good with this amp/spkr combo.
