Two echo songs of the winter season are creatively presented in this new piece for concert band. There are echoes of every imaginable kind. For extra color, the versatile scoring features brief echo passages played by an optional woodwind quintet and optional brass sextet. Parts are fully cross cued so Winter Echoes can also be performed without the ensembles. The finale presents Icy December, in an ultimate echo as an easy to perform, yet very effective double canon, one in regular time and one in augmentation. Technical matters aside, the music stands on its own as a valuable addition to the band repertoire. A must for your next holiday concert.
