Wylde Audio Barbarian Electric Guitar Grimmest Green

Description
With nordic spirit this double cutaway is ready to seize the stage. The Barbarian offers the player one of Zakk's most elegant designs featuring a solid mahogany body, quilted maple top, and a set 3-piece maple neck. The ebony fretboard has a 24.6 in. scale and 14 in. radius with 22 jumbo frets, just the way Zakk likes it.
From Ozzy Osbourne, Pride and Glory, and now Black Label Society, Zakk has always used EMG active pickups and you'll find a pair onboard in the time-tested combination of EMG 85/81 that has helped define Zakk's sound. Black satin hardware includes Grover tuners and locking tune-o-matic bridge. Case sold separately.
Details about the EMGs onboard
Although the EMG-85 pickup has more measurable output than the 81, its frequency response and string interface are different. The 85 uses two Alnico magnet-loaded coils with a wide aperture to maintain a beefy low end and a fatter top end. Because of a more natural tone, it works great as a rhythm and blues pickup because it has loads of output but isn't muddy. It's a perfect choice as a rhythm pickup in combination with an 81 in the bridge.
The midrange has great definition and doesn't get foggy or muddy in the rhythm position. The EMG-85 works best if you like the natural distortion that comes from overdriving the front end of your amp. Under any condition, the humbucker responds accurately to your technique.
The EMG-81 pickup is a high-output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock 'n' roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.
Distortion during lead passages is consistent, sustain is long and the breakup fades smoothly. The ceramic magnet in combination with wide aperture steel poles lend a quick attack but the tone stays nice and fat at the same time. Perfect if you're the only guitarist in the band, and need to switch from rhythm to lead and still keep the band moving. Another great thing about the EMG-81 humbucker is it's quiet. If you're playing at really high gain the last thing you need is noise.

Aesthetics: I personally LOVE this guitar looks, the horns/cutaways, the swirled bullseye, the bright olive green and the big pearlish fret inlays are definitely eye candy. All the mate black hardware looks great, sturdy and high quality as well. All of the nuts and washers, screws, headstock tuners, saddle and bridge are great. Playability: Overall, it feels great to play. The nut is very sturdy, high quality, not a cheap plastic that will get damaged faster while playing. The EMGs are very close to the strings which capture ALL of your playing and is really easy to do pinch harmonics, surprisingly there is NO (noticeable at moderate volume) feedback. Size: The guitar is built for and by Zakk standards, we all know he is a big guy but surprisingly this guitar feels pretty comfortable to play for a guy like me that I'm considerably smaller than him, the neck profile is perfect: Not too think, not too thick with easy access to the higher frets due to the SG kind of body type. Weight: Surprisingly lighter than I expected, a LP would definitely feel heavier than this Barbarian. Cons: (Not really cons, just observations) The only thing I noticed is the jumbo frets which are a little tricky at first to glide around the fretboard. You can actually feel the steps while moving up and down the neck, it will hurt at first until you get used to it. Also, as expected to any SG type body, there is a little bit of neck dive. Make sure you have a reliable strap that doesn't slide or you can change the position of the strap button on the back, but that will require making a new hole to the body.

Went to guitar center with the intention of buying the hellfire buzz saw barbarian today but after playing it for about an hour I realized the neck is seriously too thick. I have average hands. Not small not big and this neck is the thickest neck I have ever felt. To me it is thicker than a 50s Les Paul neck. I feel like my thumb can't find a happy spot around that giant tree trunk. I was so disappointed because it was clearanced out for such a good price (probably because no one will buy it because of the neck). I think this body style looks so much cooler than a sg. Not the biggest fan of the cheap looking graphic but at least it blends in with the black edges. The tone was ok. Not very deep or warm for such a thick neck but that is thanks to active emgs. Also it is actually really light weight although it looks like a thick slab of wood it must be chambered or weight relieved. Overall killer looking guitar and definitely worth the clearance price but I can't play the fat neck.

Seems lighter weight than the Odin, but still solid. Good resonance when playing un-amplified. The fit, finish and feel of the neck is great - no protrusions or rough spots, tall fretwire and beautiful square M.O.P. fretmarkers. Set-up was very good off the rack. Finish on the back of the chunky neck is very smooth satin which I really like, in fact the more I play it the more I like the neck. It just works. Plugging in, playing clean you get a very clear quality tone that responds very well to the tone control. Rolling on the overdrive, the EMGs scream and squeal very nicely! Body shape is wicked-cool with a beautiful quilted maple veneer front under Zakk designed buzz-saw pattern.
Amazing. Simply amazing

Fantastic build quality. I would rank it as good as my two Gibsons. The weight is about the same as my les paul studio. Great bite from the pickups. Smooth ebony board. The tuners and hardware are top notch in my book. Bought it for the look but kept it for the performance and sound.

How much does it weigh?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7.5 – 9.0 lbssubmitted7 years ago
