Description

The Walrus Audio Mako Series ACS1 Amp + Cab Simulator is a revolutionary tool for guitarists seeking to craft and control their tone. This innovative pedal offers modeled tones of three vintage amps—inspired by Fender, Marshall and Vox—and six cabinet impulse responses to pair with them. Onboard presets, stereo ins and outs, and MIDI capability provide a wealth of tone-shaping possibilities for live use, recording or practice. The ACS1 is a pedal destined to become an essential piece of gear for discerning guitarists everywhere.

Three Classic Amps to Suit Any Style

The ACS1 provides tones modeled after three amps that shaped rock history: the Fender Deluxe Reverb, Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker and Vox AC30. Select between the clean headroom and chime of the Fullerton channel, the rich overdrive of the London channel or the jangly bite of the Dartford channel. Blend amps between the left and right channels or run the same amp through both using the L+R switch.

Cabinet Impulse Responses for the Perfect Match

Pair each amp model with one of six cabinet impulse responses for the ideal combination of amp and speaker tone. The ACS1 comes loaded with custom IRs developed by Walrus Audio to complement each amp model. Guitarists can also load their own IRs using the Walrus Audio app. Toggle between cabs using the ABC switch or access a second set of cabs by holding the bypass switch.

Shape Your Sound with Onboard Controls

Like an amp, the ACS1's volume and gain controls work together to determine the pedal's output level and overdrive, and you can boost them for added punch. Simulate recording in different rooms with the ambience knob, from a dead room at minimum to a large studio at maximum.

Save and Recall Onboard Presets

Dial in your perfect tone and save it as one of three onboard presets by pressing the bypass and boost switches simultaneously. Cycle through presets by pressing both switches together. Remove power to retain the last preset used. Access up to 128 presets via MIDI. The boost feature allows you to quickly jump to a preset level of volume and gain—set it by activating the boost and adjusting levels, then save it by pressing the boost switch again.

Sounds great. The ability to run 2 amp sims to different speakers is cool though making adjustments in that setup can be difficult as you have no way of knowing what happened on one output once you have made adjustments to the other output. Still—pleased with the pedal.

Thought I was a tube snob but found out I really like this pedal. I have been using it for convince, on my pedalboard plugging in the headphone jack for silent practice with my effect. Or running into studio moniters

  • Great pedal.

The stereo fun is never ending. Throw a stereo reverb in front of this thing and get lost. Great pedal. Well done.

If you're playing at a small to mid venue and amps are causing too much noise this will help with stage volume. If you're a single guitarist and need to fill the sound space that two guitars can do you can run in stereo with this pedal as well.

Bought this to improve my home recording rig and replace my amp to go direct to the PA when I play at church. Previously for home recording Id use my Vox Tonelab EX for amp and cab simulation and the ACS1 sound way more realistic. Normally I run my amp clean and rely on pedals for my over driven sounds. The ACS1 works great for this. Both my Greer G.S. and EQD Gray Channel sound great, no digital fizziness. time based effects see to play well with this unit too. I've hear complaints with noise using no isolated power supplies, but running mine with MXR DC Brick I haven't had any noise issues. the stereo amp and cab options create a nice 3D sound field. Overall it exceeded my expectations. it was a toss up between this and the Iridium, and to be honest I was leaning toward the Iridium, but the ACS1 was on sale so I decided to go with Walrus Audio. In the end, I think the timing of sale worked out in my best interest. If you are on fence between these two, if you don't need the extra gain on the Chime and Punch, then I'd suggest the ACS1 might be right for you.
