Walrus Audio Julia Demo: The Gearly Grind

Description
The Julia Analog Chorus/Vibrato pedal by Walrus Audio offers musicians a wealth of lush modulation options in a stylish package. The Julia V2 provides rate, depth and lag controls, as well as selectable LFO wave shapes, that allow you to dial in everything from subtle thickening to warbling detune. The Julia's all-analog signal path and high-quality components deliver rich, nuanced tones that inspire creativity.
Flexible Controls Shape Your Perfect Modulation
The Julia gives you extensive control over your modulation effects. Adjust the rate knob to set the speed of the effect, then customize the intensity with the depth control. Use the lag control to set the center delay time that the LFO modulates around adding greater dimension to your soundscape. The wave switch allows you to change the LFO waveforms to sine, generally better for vibrato, or triangle which is better for chorus. Finally, mix your wet and dry signal using the dry chorus vibrato blend. With this level of control, you can create any modulation sound from barely-there shimmer to seasick pitch warble.
All-Analog Circuitry Provides Organic Tone
The Julia's all-analog signal path is the secret to its rich, nuanced sound. Walrus Audio chose high-quality components to deliver the warmth and depth that define analog tone. The Julia's BBD chips provide time-based modulation effects without digital conversion for an organic, vintage-inspired sound. The result is a lush, dimensional modulation that inspires creativity.
Stylish Design Meets Rugged Construction
The Julia combines stylish esthetics with durable build quality. Its powder-coated enclosure features artwork from a collaborative series with artist Adam Foster. Inside, the Julia is built to last with high-quality components on a PCB board. The footswitches provide crisp, consistent activation for years of reliable performance. With its striking design and solid construction, the Julia is built to inspire for the long haul.

One of the best on the market. I use it to thicken the tone up. But it has a wide range of sounds and feels very natural.

I purchased this chorus pedal for a specific performance (accompanying the vocalist on What Are You Doing New Year's Eve). I A/B tested five different pedals and this one gave me the subtle tone I was after.

I've been hearing a lot about this pedal lately, and being a massive Chorus lover, I just had to check it out. It's more of a modern take on the classic effect, but it can still get close to pulling off those beloved Chorus tones. Where this pedal really shines is the Vibrato mode. It gives you a lovely sway to your playing, and sounds great clean or full on fuzzed out. The Chorus aspect is nice sounding, but for me, it's a rad Vibrato pedal.
Don't want to turn it off!!

I've never really been a fan of modulation effects, always found them to be very generic and just bleh. I recently started playing guitar again and have really found myself going down the rabbit hole of fx pedals. I Started with the basics of gain/overdrives, then reverb and delay, and thought I was good to go. Then I discovered the Julia, I considered the Julianna, but since I run a wet/dry rig I didn't really have a use for the stereo ins/outs and thought the extra functions might have been a little too complicated for my limited knowledge of modulation. I can now safely and positively say that I have to force myself to NOT use this pedal on everything I play. It's really hard to turn this pedal off, it is so versatile and customizable, especially with it's 4 controls and 1 switch. Not too complex but just enough features to easily find a tone that sounds amazing. If your thinking or on the fence about this pedal, don't be, you won't be disappointed.
