Sound Percussion Labs

collapse expand iconDescription

Most drummers have experienced the problem of noise complaints practicing in apartments or late at night. Cymbals can be loud and penetrating but Sound Percussion's Ride/Cymbal Mute quiets the sound, yet retains the feel of the cymbal itself.

Designed for crash and ride cymbals, the mute is constructed of an ultra-thin material that closely approximates the feel and touch of a stick hitting the cymbal. Immediately, drummers will notice a vast improvement over existing mutes and the makeshift use of towels, tape, and blankets. It is a breeze to set up and installs and removes in seconds; just place the mute on the cymbal and play.

I use these on rides, crashes, and chinas, and if you own a house they're more than sufficient in stifling the noise, but might not be enough for an apartment setting depending on your situation. If sound quality is an issue, maybe consider low-volume cymbals instead.
