SOLDANO introducing the ASTRO 20 - SOLDANO legacy meets modern technology

The full ASTRO 20 story: Mike Soldano, Ryan "Fluff" Bruce and Evan Foster talk details

Description
The sky’s the limit with the Soldano Astro-20, a three-channel, four-Galaxy amp head delivering all-tube tone that’s out of this world. This American-made, 20-watt head features a Clean and two Overdrive channels, powered by two 6V6 power tubes and four 12AX7 preamp tubes. Along with six DSP-powered IR slots to choose from, the Astro-20 is packed with four distinct Galaxies, giving you even more style-specific tones to explore. Whether you’re looking to stay grounded with traditional sounds or blast off into uncharted sonic territories, this amp head is perfect for guitarists who want classic tube tone with modern flexibility. The Astro-20 is an ideal standalone option for live performance, rehearsal and studio recording.

Galaxies of Tone
Along with three channels of all-tube awesomeness, the Astro-20 is loaded with four selectable Galaxies to add even more flavor to your riffs. The Green Galaxy is featured on the Clean channel and ranges from crystal clean to slightly pushed crunch. Blue, Purple and Red Galaxies offer increasing levels of overdriven breakup from one to the next and can each be independently assigned to the Overdrive channels. They can then be further manipulated with separate Volume and Gain settings on each, allowing you to continue expanding your musical universe with virtually endless combinations of colorful soundscapes.

Assignable Impulse Responses
IR cab simulation is an essential tool for today’s guitarist, and the Astro-20 offers six to choose from. Each expertly recorded IR can be assigned to a channel or Galaxy independently, ensuring you get the ideal tone and speaker response you’re looking for, whether it’s onstage, recording or utilizing the headphone output for silent practice. You can also add and manage your own IRs using the included Soldano Editor software. The Soldano Editor Software features an intuitive user interface, allowing you to easily assign Galaxies to the Overdrive channels, select different IRs for all three channels, load and organize your IR library, and save up to 128 MIDI presets.

Classic All-Tube Tone
Even with versatile onboard controls, the Astro-20 features inimitable analog charm with two 6V6 power tubes and four 12AX7 preamp tubes. The warm, rich sound—synonymous with rock, country and blues—is instantly recognizable. But with tons of tone-tweaking features, this 20-watt head gives you everything you need to sculpt that classic tone into something entirely unique. Even if you’ve only used classic tube amps previously, it’s easy to use the Astro-20 to its full potential, thanks to intuitive controls in a traditional layout.

Chart Your Own Path
The sonic possibilities are virtually endless with the Astro-20 head. Four distinct Galaxies across three channels provide nearly unlimited customization options, so you can find the perfect tube tone you didn’t even know you’d been looking for. With Soldano Editor software, convenient STAR Display and a four-button MIDI footswitch included, the Astro-20 lets you save and access any combination of channels, Galaxies and onboard IRs with ease. The Astro-20 is even suitable for cab-less operation, allowing users to safely go to front of house, a recording device or headphones without connecting to a speaker cabinet.

Has that sound you want from a proper high gain amp. Think dual rec but not as woofy. Cleans are amazing, blue and purple channels excel with gain staging and the red channel rips. IR galaxy feature and direct recording cannot be understated. It is the perfect studio amp. Switching cabs on the front is a dream for studio work.
SO incredibly good... tight low-end... thick but articulate

Especially nowadays where you're feeding SOME kind of signal to front-of-house. I've gigged everything from 100w Friedman & Bogner Amps...40w amps, 30w...never a 20w though. I gigged this and it was fantastic. I use the amp behind me basically as my stage sound, instead of MYSELF coming through my monitor (I refuse to use IEMs), which I only use my monitor for vocals, keys, a little bass (usually don't even need it from the stage) and that's it. In front of my amp, I use a plexi-shield to contain the sound/beam and just really flood the area where I am on stage, with sweet tube goodness. This 20w amp MORE than hung with my Bonzo-like drummer. The fact that you've got a dedicated clean channel that you can basically max and still not get breakup, makes it VERY useful as a gigging amp vs. some 20w amps that once in a gig situation, don't really have "cleans". Add to that, the IR features...and it's such a simple go-to for the gigging (and yes, I know studio) musician. But seriously, the IR voicing are stellar, and you can add your own. I normally gig either a Friedman 50w Wildwood Smallbox or a Bogner 40w Goldfinger Superlead...and this 20w Soldano wasn't lacking whatsoever. That THICK BUT ARTICULATE Soldano tone, pouring through in spades. Sustain is incredible. I know 90% of the videos you see are reviewers diming the gain and chugga-chugga (yawn)...this this is a bonafide rock machine and despite some thinking it's expensive "for a 20w amp"....don't think of it like that. This thing is as loud as some 30-40w tube amps I've played. You can say I'm a bit of an amp collector/owner...and make no mistake, the quality of tone is there. Some amps in the stable: Friedman Wildwood 50w Smallbox Friedman Twin Sister 40w Friedman Wildwood 20 Friedman BE100 Deluxe Bogner EL34 Ecstasy 100w Bogner Goldfinger SL 40w Bogner Helios Eclipse 100w PRS HX/DA Marshall DSL 100CR Marshall Silver Jube 100w Marshall SV20
