I found this on the GC website and the price was good so I ordered it. I should've done more research on the actual kit because I previously bought the Alesis turbo kit. Well it doesn't have a real spike and I just couldn't get the feel out of the cheaper electronic pedal. Well after buying the separate kick pad, now I find out that the Turbo module does not allow the user to change or modify the trigger sensitivity! Luckily, my brother has an old Alesis DM5 module. So basically all that's going to be used from the turbo kit is the snare and tom and cymbals…. And the rack too. Now I have to buy more 1/4 Jack cables for each pad/cymbal.
I would buy this product again, but with reservations.

I bought the Simmons KP 10 and it works perfectly fine at a great price. The problem I have with it is the dimensions. The center of the pad sits approximately 14 inches off the floor. That would be ok if I was used to playing a 28-in bass drum. But I use a 20 inch base drum for which the center is approximately 10 or 11 inches off the floor. So to use this pad, I have to adjust my beater to extend about 4 in beyond what I'm used to. This is a completely different feel. I'm very puzzled why they would make this pad so tall. Even if you use a 22-in bass drum, the center of that would be 11 or 12 inches off the floor, not 14. I literally had to cut a piece out of the stand in order to bring it down a few inches so I could use my pedal and it's usual configuration.
Very short life on these.

I am just a hobbyist and I've worn out 2 of these kick pads. They don't last very long.

I bought these to replace the mesh head that I had rigged together when my original pad went bad and I needed a cheap replacement. My first impressions out of the box were that it was solidly built, but I was concerned that the striking area would not be big enough. It came with a beater pad to protect the head, but it was for a single oedal, so I wasn't able to use it. I may buy one for a double beater…but no rush on it. Plugged it in, attached my pedal, and spent about an hour and a half playing it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. No missed triggers or double triggers. The beater surface ended up being more than large enough to accommodate my pedal beaters, wihich are actually spread a bit more than necessary due to my own personal preference. The striking area is actually pretty even across the whole surface, too, so no issues with one beater or the other producing a stronger signal. I'd recommend it for anyone needing a replacement. Hoping it ends up being as sturdy as it appears!
