The title combines the words recitare and cantare, and thus this eloquent song embodies a renewed attempt to demonstrate the communicative power of music. The piece was written for Tabea Zimmermann and dedicated to her, while at the same time, in the tradition of a Lamento di Viola, commemorating the harpsichordist Christiane Jaccottet.
