Roland SPD-1K Kick Pad

Description
The Roland SPD::ONE Kick Pad is an innovative kick trigger designed for electronic drum sets. This powerful yet space-efficient pad provides realistic kick drum sounds with adjustable sensitivity for drummers needing a compact setup. Now drummers with limited stage or studio space can achieve full, dynamic kick drum tones.
Realistic Kick Drum Sounds
The SPD::ONE Kick Pad delivers high-quality kick drum sounds with adjustable sensitivity for precise, nuanced triggering. Eight dynamic kick drum sounds—including acoustic, electronic and percussion kicks—provide versatility for any genre or playing style. Drummers can shape sounds with effects like EQ, reverb and compression using their drum module or V-Drums TDK.
Compact and Sturdy Design
Measuring just 12 inches in diameter, the SPD::ONE Kick Pad has a small footprint that fits in even the most confined drum setups. Its rugged build and slip-resistant base ensure stability during intense playing. The kick pad also features a height adjustment knob for perfect positioning relative to drum pedals and other pads.
Plug-and-Play Connectivity
The SPD::ONE Kick Pad connects directly to drum modules, V-Drums TDK, and other gear via a 1/4" or mini stereo cable for instant integration into your electronic drum set. An optional pedal (sold separately) provides a familiar kick drum feel. The kick pad's simple connectivity and compatibility with most e-drum gear make it an ideal add-on for augmenting an acoustic drum set with electronic sounds.
Roadworthy and Affordable
With its durable build and compact size, the SPD::ONE Kick Pad handles the rigors of touring and transport with ease. An affordable price makes this kick trigger an accessible solution for drummers on any budget looking to expand their electronic drum set. Sounds great, easy to play
I want to accompany myself on drums and percussion while playing guitar and singing, so I play SPD pads (the yellow Kick and the white Percussion) primarily with my feet. Once the sensitivity and threshold dials are set to my liking, playing with a tap of a foot is pretty easy. I've found that wearing shoes with a modest heel (motorcycle boots work for me) make playing easier and less tiring.THE PROS: Good selection of sounds and the sound quality is excellent. Super convenient to plug directly into an amp/PA/headphones. No need to lug around a real kick drum and pedal and have to mic it. The SPD is small, light, portable and far cheaper than buying a decent drum and decent pedal. THE CONS: Each selection on the sound dial has two options, but there is no visual indicator of which variation is selected. You must manually/audibly check which is half-assed on Roland's part and having to check is a bit sloppy when performing. Also, Roland supplies a mounting clamp (which I don't need) and batteries but no electrical plug. Roland wants to sell you their plug for $25 extra, which is offensive. Roland, include the plug in the current price. NOTE: This is why the price and value ratings are not 5 stars. Quality rating is 4 stars because I've only used the product for a couple of weeks, though my experience with Roland/Boss products has always been pretty good.

Be aware
Be aware this does not come with a power supply. It comes with batteries and no one knows how long they last during a live performance. Customer service has no clue which power supply goes with it. The power supply actually is actually a Boss one and it's an extra $30. It's a nicely kept secret.

I'm building a new one man band rig and decided to go with a Roland One Kick pedal instead of hauling around a traditional bass drum setup. So far, I'm impressed with the sound, versatility, and small footprint of this device. The tuning function is a tasty feature that allows you to manipulate the samples up or down in pitch. Using that and the reverb/distortion knob, you can get some pretty thunderous kick drum sounds out of this thing, as well as some Waitsian junk yard percussion stuff, and I can't wait to load my own weirdness into slot #12. Next on the wishlist will be the Roland One Percussion pedal for my other foot!
Not ergonomically very useful

I wanted to use the Spd one kick in a duo. We stand up don't sit down. Really hard on the body to use this. Does work better sitting. Has nice sounds. Programming 12 is a little tricky but once it is done, works hood

I am in a Johnny CASH Tribute and sometime we do Duo's Myself and the singer. I usually play thr upright bass, but I can play lead guitar, This will work when doing it. Pro's great sounds, Con's they should hire a orthopedic to understand the position of the foot. the way it is standing up I don't think i Could play it for too long with my foot not falling off. It is not comfortable to play..
So glad I bought this

What's a reasonable pa for this and how do you hook up more than one, to use at the same time with a speaker?
The kick pad is pedal based and can plug into your amp or PA. Multiple kick pads can be connected to a PA or amp. We have a number of PA's and we recommend speaking to an agent at 866-498-7882.
