Gauge .008, Plain Steel - Acoustic or Electric

These are the same guitar strings Rogue uses in prepackaged retail sets. What's the difference? We package 12 strings of the same gauge in airtight vinyl bags with a packet of silica gel to protect against unwanted moisture, so they last longer than typical string sets. We also pack these bulk strings in big, loose coils to avoid compressing or stretching the windings, so they sound better than tightly coiled strings. Rogue Strings are made for us exclusively by a famous manufacturer, employing the finest materials and the latest manufacturing methods.

I recently pulled the oldest guitar I own from the closet, an acoustic 12 string. I never played it much and was surprised to find that it was still in perfect shape. I had kept it slightly detuned and the top was as flat as the day I bought it. I have taught myself luthiery over the last two or three years and wanted to do a little modding and string it with the lightest set I could find due to it's age (35 years). I installed two small bolts at each end of the bridge, covered them with pearloid dots, and installed a bridge doctor. My only issue was finding a light enough set of strings. Of the two I found, one had very light chorus strings but the fundamentals were a bit on the heavy side. The other had light fundamentals but took the easy way out by making the four lowest chorus strings the same as the fundamental two strings up. The chorus for the G was the same as the high E, for the D it was the B, etc. For my part, I wasn't thrilled tuning even a .009 to the G above the open high E. The low E's chorus was a .028! Anyway, I looked for individual strings on this site and found these in an .008. I used it for the G and shifted everything down a string leaving me with an extra .028. It worked out perfectly and only cost an extra couple of dollars. I have enough to restring it several times.

12 string guitars have three thin strings: the octave G, and high E pair. When playing too aggressively, one of those may break. Having these back-ups saves me from breaking into another set.

These are great replacements when you break a string, but can't or don;t want to replace the set. I use them for the high G on my 12-string. They are thinner than the .010 gauge that comes in the packs I buy so are less prone to breakage.

What else to say, great quality and price. My fingers are weak enough that I need some help with the hi E. I use about Fender 150 lights but throw out the 9 E and replace it with the an 8 E. Got the D'Addario XL ten pack for a good price. I'm ready to rock on. Thanks to the GC team who processed the rest of the items in my order. Quickly matched prices and got the goods here fast. Been dealing with you guys for over a decade and service has always been excellent. Means I'll be here for the next decade buying stuff (Allah willing...) Dr John K
