Don't get me wrong, this is a good case for the money - wood construction, nice interior, storage pocket, locks appear to be solid. I bought this to replace a Road Runner Poly-foam case that I've had for several years and was getting a bit road worn. I was VERY surprised to find that the J Bass did not fit. This was mentioned by another reviewer, and they are correct. The body section in the case is just too short for the J Bass to fit in the case comfortably, I was able to squeeze it in only if I wedged the upper horn into the partition, but this is not a desirable situation IMO. Fortunately (and to my surprise), the case did fit my 1978 Gibson RD Artist very well so I kept the case and I'm happy with it for that purpose. I gave it 4 stars because of the fit. Otherwise, it is a nice case. If you have a J Bass or similar body, you might want to check out another option.

This is a decent case for the money. That said, I can't recommend this for use with a Fender Precision.
The case is too large and allows the bass to slide around too much inside it. There's around 2 to 21/2 inches of space around body width wise and lengthwise. You can feel the bass moving around inside the case when you carry it. The worse is that the top doesn't have enough padding inside to keep the bass neck seated in the support cutout. The neck will pop out due to the excess space around the body. Not good. I should have checked the fit better before purchase. I ended up getting the "real" Fender case from GC online. I had it shipped to my local store and will return this one when I pick up the read deal case.

Not for J bass

By Ivica Lukenda

from Georgia

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

I got it today for one of my bass guitars. However, it did not fit J bass. P got in. Of course, it's not "flight case". But, it's much better than gig bag. Looks decent. I hope it will last long enough to protect instrument.

Stood up to my Honda Accord!

By Rory Dardich

from Clearwater, FL

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

I have had a jazz bass in this case for a few years now (not sure why the person in the other review had trouble). My son uses my bass too and last night he set it behind my car when we were heading home. I didn't see it and, YES, I ran over my bass. I even stopped on top of it when I heard the crunch before I knew what had happened and had to finish rolling over it! The front tire went over the neck somewhere around the nut. BUT THE BASS SURVIVED! The tuners turned so it was out of tune, and it could probably use a setup now. But there are no cracks, scuffs, or ANY problems with it - still holds tune, plays well, etc. The case is trashed, but that's what it's for - right? It is relatively inexpensive as cases go and I've had more sturdy ones, but it did the job as well as any of them when I needed it to! THANK YOU ROADRUNNER!

Great Case, Great Price, No Complaints

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

Picked up this case to replace a gig bag for my bass and love it. I have carried it around to a dozen or so locations over the last month or so and it is holding up perfectly has a nice fit and seems to protect very well. What's not to love for the price?

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

Not a bad case. My Ibanez SG 300 fits perfectly but my Squire Jazz is a little tight with the guitar strap attached. After a little re-positioning of the strap, it sits in there fine. Definitely worth the 80 bucks if you're only going to transport it back and forth to gigs or practice. Would not recommend it for airport travel as it feels a little flimsy and could get roughed up by airport baggage handlers. Has an internal compartment for spare strings, pics, tuners and so on. Nice feature. A shoulder strap would be nice but for the short haul, a good buy.

For any Fender Aerodyne bassists out there - this fits the bass like a glove. Recommended for this, even though I'm reading that standard J basses do not quite fit. Good quality/fit/finish for me.

I just recently bought this case. I have not put a J Bass in there yet, but my Standard P Bass (MIM) fits perfectly in this case. I use the case for storage. It protects my bass and fits well under my bed/in the corner of my room.

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

Not a bad deal on a wood case, not deluxe, not form fitting. (I got it for a G&L L-2500 5-string; the neck fits nicely in its cradle, but the body has an inch or two it can move side to side.) Doesn't appear super durable, but it's a step up from a rigid foam case and two steps up from a gig bag.

Comments about Road Runner RRDWB Deluxe Wood Bass Case:

The build of this case is very poor. There major gaps between my bass (Schecter Bass Diamond edition) and the walls of the case which makes it shift around while transporting it. The inside storage was falling apart. The mound for the neck is warped which creates more shifting as I transport my bass to various locations. All in all, save your money and invest it in a better build that will actually protect your instrument.
