Quilter Labs' Aviator Cub UK 50W 1x12 combo amp brings quintessential British amplifier sounds to guitarists seeking vintage tone and modern flexibility. This single-channel workhorse features three inputs that recreate the sonic signatures of Britain's most beloved amps: The "AC" channel produces the chime of a Vox, the "AC Top Boost" the shimmer of an early Marshall and the "JMP" the punch of a later Marshall. Running through a custom 12" speaker, the Aviator Cub UK's 50W of power let you achieve cranked-amp tone at lower volumes—perfect for practice or performance.

Authentic Vintage Voicings

Whether you're chasing the brightness of an AC30, the crunch of a Plexi or the drive of a JMP, the Aviator Cub UK delivers. Its AC channel produces the jangly clean tones that defined the British Invasion. The AC Top Boost adds midrange grit and harmonic richness. And the JMP channel unleashes a throaty overdrive reminiscent of hard rock's halcyon days. Dialing between channels is fast and seamless, giving you a palette of era-specific tones at your fingertips.

Built for Portability

Weighing in at just over 21lb., the Aviator Cub UK is a highly transportable amp that refuses to sacrifice power or performance. It pumps 50W through a custom 12" speaker, achieving cranked-amp tones at lower volumes suitable for smaller clubs and studios. The amp also features a headphone output and effects loop for silent practice or recording. Whether you're gigging across town or tracking in your home studio, the Aviator Cub UK delivers iconic British tone with modern flexibility.

I've had my eye on Quilter amps for a while, mostly considering their pedalboard amps, but I was impressed with these Aviator Cub amps after hearing one at an outdoor venue this past summer. At 50 watts, it definitely cranks out the volume with excellent tone, either clean or with gain turned up. The first night I had this I took it to a bar jam and it easily held its own on stage with drums and other guitars. Thanks to being solid state, it weighs in at only 21 lbs. yet punches far above amps weighing more than half as much again. It's simple and uncomplicated, making it a good choice for gigging. After all, how many different settings will most of us really use with modeling amps, especially live? The three different inputs emulate each classic British sounds to create the starting point for dialing in tone, then three-band eq, gain and a pretty good reverb allows the guitar to shine, and of course pedals can always help shape the sound further. It also has an effects loop for clean time-based effects like delay. The only downside for some may be that it doesn't have an attenuator switch for cutting the volume in half for bedroom or apartment practice as have become popular with some other amps, yet I've been pleased with the tone I get even with everything turned down to a level that won't upset the wife or dogs.

All I was hoping for. Great sound. Love that I can sculpt the sound/tone I'm wanting and then play it at whatever volume I choose. And at 21.5lbs is icing on the cake.

I wanted a solid state amp for backup and practice. I've tried them all. The is the closest to a tube amp of them all. What others would not do is take gain well. It was either fizzy or muddy. This takes pedals FANTASIC. The negatives are the treble on the high e is a little ice picky when playing clean on solos. Using just the gain knob isn't enough for good distortion. A pedal is needed but when used great. Much better than Tone Master or others. Why they couldn't goose the gain on the amp more is beyond me. Considering its almost half the price than some it's a still. The cleans are very crips and pristine too. PLENTY of volume. The only other gripe is not having a 'Line out' for an additional speaker cabinet. Its plenty loud enough but having the option of another cabinet or making a 2x12 would have been MUCH better. There is a line out but not for a speaker cabinet. I emailed Quilter and they said to buy another one of their amps. Didn't like that answer. Long story short its a great amp for the right application and better than the others I've tried.
