Does the job!

I bought one of these stands for my Gretsch A-style mandolin for practice at home. The foam rest holds the mando securely and doesn't sratch the headstock or the mando back. I also used it at church. It travelled well and did it's job well, also. Then I got a little lazy and bought a second one just to leave at the church, on stage! I recommend it for its intended purpose.

Bad U-Headstock rest weld, breaks easily

I purchased two of these to use for both a Mandolin and Ukulele while on tour. Both stands broke within months. The U-headstock rest is secured onto the vertical support beam by a single small weld on the top of U-headstock rest. Any sort upward pressure applied to the underside of the headstock rest will break the weld and separate the U-rest from the vertical support beam. My stands would be loaded and unloaded several times per week, under typical touring conditions. They look nice and hold the instruments fine, but they are not built well enough to handle touring.

I use this both at outings and in my music room at home - it securely holds my ukuleles in a place that is handy for me to use them. I never have to worry about them falling out of this stand.

  • Good stand
