Description
The Peavey MAX 250 bass combo amp delivers huge bass tone with exclusive Peavey designs, including unique psycho-acoustic low-end enhancement that adds bass without demanding anything extra from the speaker—a testament to Peavey's technology-driven reliability. The EQ section includes 3-band EQ, a gain boost featuring Peavey's patented TransTube tube emulation circuitry, and switchable presets like Contour, Mid-Shift and Bright.
With MAX, you will hear yourself loud and clear with no need to tilt your amp back. Thanks to the MAX's angled baffle design, the sound is directed right where you want it.
The MAX also features a built-in chromatic tuner with mute, a tuned and ported enclosure, 1/8" headphone output and 1/8" auxiliary input. The amp also includes an XLR direct output with ground lift, as well as a built-in tweeter.

This amp had issues, so I called Peavey for advice. I called time and time again, but all I got was their voicemail. I left a message, but they never called me back. I tried emailing them, but they never responded to that either. Based on my experience, I would say that Peavey doesn't care about their customers.
So far so good.

I borrowed a friend's Max 115 recently fora show as my older Kustom amp was acting up at times, may have been a Cord problem, but we had an important gig. His amp was just a couple years old. I had used it at his house at rehearsal. I thought it was ok, though I have always liked Peavey. I was quite surprised at how well it did with our band. We play at clubs, medium levels. After that I tried to buy one like his, none available anywhere really, so I bought the newest model, the Max 250. It's practically the same amp except for the tilted back speaker, plus it has a external speaker connection, Speakon an 1/4 in.too. A foot switch output, a horn switch as well. His Max 115 is actually 300 watts, a misleading name. I will probably add removable casters eventually, I don't like to lift much anymore, even the 50 lbs. it's supposed to be. So far I am very pleased, but I did remove the grill and add a narrow strip of foam on either side, took care of the grill rattle which I read about here. I really like this amp, it gets the exact sounds I want.

I like the metal grill and built in tuner. The metal grill protects the speaker. Sounds nice.
Sweet Combo Amp

Totally pleased with this bass amp! Comes with a complete array of EQ controls, but this guy rings so sweet and clear you hardly need them. The Gain and OD work together to give you some great growl without affecting your overall volume (if you set it up that way), and is foot-switchable. It has a handy built-in chromatic tuner, plus a balanced DI out if you've got folks working a board. The combination of tweeter and 15-inch speaker produces bass notes with awesome clarity! The unit is well crafted and light enough to lift and transport. I was listening for the grill rattle that someone else complained about, but the only buzz I've been able to get is from my own misplaced fingers! (The grill simply screws on, so I suppose a rattle might occur if a screw was loose–simple to correct.)
Don't buy this amp. Huge design flaw!

I was very excited to try out this Peavey and was let down greatly. The grill rattles A LOT. It's unplayable and should NOT be used on stage without DI. Fix the death rattle and you've got yourself an amp.
