PACE

collapse expand iconDescription

PACE Anti-Piracy's 3rd-generation iLok, aka iLok3, offers a smaller, faster device holding three times the number of licenses. Recent advances in chip design and manufacturing processes have enabled the evolution of the new iLok version, which is much smaller and more robust than its predecessors. The new iLok is fully backward compatible with previous versions—so all software developed for use with a 2nd-generation iLok will continue to work with this 3rd-generation iLok.

Since its release 16 years ago, the iLok hardware device has never been compromised. The design of the 3rd-generation iLok is a huge step up from previous versions. The internal components are ingeniously small, packed into their metal case using methods that make duplication virtually impossible. And fewer components means fewer points of failure once the device is being used in the field.

Ilok fine, but bad customer service

Ilok is fine. But to be honest, GC in-store customer service and policies is pretty bad. I ordered the item online for pickup. Called to arrange the pickup and was told I have to wait up to 3 days to get the item. Went to the store to just get the thing. Went to the counter, saw a row of iloks, just like the one I bought. Rep told me I can't have it because it takes 3 days. Manager had to call customer service call center to get approval to release the ilok to me. It was bureaucracy at its finest and completely inept. GC please update your horrible online order procedures.

It's like your grandparents still paying for cable.

So I just bought this. System says it draws too much power. Apparently iLok knows about this. I mean how much power does it need? I can run an Ableton Push, Maschine Mikro, and a M-Audio keyboard off my USB bus no issues. In the iLok support section they say, "We do try to work with hardware manufacturers to assure that they support the certified and standard USB calls that iLok makes. However, this is dependent on knowing the devices that are consistently showing a problem, and of course on the manufacturer's willingness to update the drivers." Just design the product right. I just keep seeing Rick and Morty Little Rick episode in my mind. iLok get your sh@t together. Get it all into one place but get it together.

Buying The ilok Usb or any Usb from guitar center is faster and easier than waiting a few days on the original site.As an Artist/Producer for protools software,I would also recommend The "Launchkey Mini 37" Novation. This Midi controller is best for Protools, Ableton, and Waveform.

  • Great to use with music production software

I bought one of these from the Portland, Oregon Guitar Center, because I bought the Slate Digital All Access Pass and for some odd reason it(the Ilok Dongle) won't show up in my iLok License Manager Account and I don't know what to do.

Will the ilok 3 work with the Express version of protools? I've lost my 2nd gen ilok and need a replacement. And the 2nd gen seems to be discontinued
