Description
The innovative Orange Amplifiers Terror Bass 500W tube hybrid bass amp head combines the coveted tube preamp of Orange's all-tube AD200B MK3 bass head with a powerful 500W Class-D power amp, yielding the highly sought-after tube tone at a fraction of the weight. The 12AX7 preamp tube saturates your tone with harmonically rich overdrive and a natural compression, which is then boosted to stadium-worthy levels by the mighty solid-state power amp. With simple yet versatile controls, the Terror Bass 500W lets you craft your signature sound in seconds.
12AX7 Tube Preamp Creates a Warm, Responsive Foundation
At the heart of the Terror Bass 500W is a single 12AX7 preamp tube, which shapes your tone with creamy overdrive and touch-sensitive dynamics. From subtle grit to all-out grind, the tube preamp reacts to your playing style and instrument with harmonic complexity and musicality. When you dig in harder, it compresses in a gradual, ear-pleasing way. The tube also helps tighten up the power amp, preventing a sterile tone.
500W Class-D Power Amp Delivers Thunderous Volume
With 500W of Class-D power at your fingertips, the Terror Bass 500W pumps serious volume for any venue. The lightweight yet high-powered MOSFET power amp design is highly efficient, reducing energy consumption while increasing the amp's capabilities. Whether you're gigging at a club or an arena, the Terror Bass 500W gives you headroom to spare.
Straightforward Control Set is Simple to Use
Despite its advanced design, the Terror Bass 500W is extremely intuitive to operate. Familiar controls include Gain, Bass, Middle and Treble EQ knobs to shape the tube preamp tone, as well as a Master volume knob to balance preamp and power amp levels. An additional tube preamp switch lets you adjust the amount of tube saturation. The back panel features an effects loop, a balanced XLR line out, as well as speakON speaker outputs for maximum recording and playing versatility.

The moment I got it I went straight to the studio to play with it. I was using a old 78' 300watt peavey mark iii bass amp that I love but when I plugged the terror bass in my cab I was blown away. This thing moves some serious air. you can get some really good tones out if this thing, punchy violent highs to smooth buttery lows, and with that lovable gain knob you can get that nice beautiful rich orange tone. I cant wait to gig with this thing!
Great Amp

I play rock. Typically with a passive jazz bass with roundwounds and finger style. The Good: Lightweight and portable, this thing rocks. Great for gigging and band practice without breaking your back. I pair it with two OBC 1x12's. With just one 1x12 it's plenty loud for band practice in a small room. There's a lot of different tone options to fit various styles, and easy controls to change it up. The clean switch is great for a little more headroom and clarity. Fuzzy or clean, this amp will do both. The bad: Too much preamp gain (past 2 o'clock) makes the tone start to sound "farty" and muddy even with mid-high boost and flat bass and master volume reduced proportionally. This being my first hybrid amp, I don't have another point of reference to compare it with though. So if you want a lot of fuzz but retain more clarity at the same time you may need to pair it with the appropriate pedal.
I'm very impressed 😁

I will use it to rock out with my band. I also love how simple it is and is very versatile not a one trick pony like I read about.
