It works.

I purchased this item along with the K&M Dual Microphone Bar. Having concerns with the reviews stating the durability of these items, I bought one of each. The MG version does have its limitations over the other, the most important one being the inability to adjust the distance between the two microphones (the K&M version has this function). I felt this inability warranted purchasing the K&M just in case this ability was a concern in live real world incidences. This item is perfect if you don't want the additional concerns of microphone distance in your X/Y microphone bar, and this item has a feature over the K&M bar, as it does include a swivel bracket between the microphone bar and the stand / boom attachment. Thus, you can adjust the angle of the bar coming off the stand, as the K&M bar has a rigid attachment. Both bars are solid, and the MG item here adds more "meat" around the bar than the other one. This item also has the benefit of not having the additional concerns over tightening the microphone distance as well as the microphones mounting themselves (a good thing if you aren't concerned over the distance between your microphones. Stable, secure, solid units, and I had no issues with tightening enough to keep the microphones from moving. Possibly an issue with loosening them though. Until I got the settings right, I did need a pair of channel locks once or twice, but I plan on using the bar set up in transporting, so tear down is not an issue in my situation. May want to bring a flat-bit screwdriver though, as the swivel bracket was loose on receiving, and required tightening to keep it from flopping about.

Musician's Gear Double Mic Attachment

Sorry to the makers of this product buts from my experience with it its not a product id buy again. The idea behind it is great but it its self isnۡt, I bought one of these for recording and to save time from changing out the microphones, strait out of the package I had problems, first u have to have the same microphone holders or they face different way. But the main problem I had was the bar would start sliding down to one side and wouldnۡt say up even after trying to tighten it so in the end I had to get rid of the center piece and just screwed the bar onto the boom, so if your looking for something just to hold two microphones go for it if your looking for one to allow u to angle it certain way down because itl just fall to one side and if u just use the bar you have to use the mic holder to angle which doesnۡt give u many choices .

Wanted to use this to mount two microphones over a marimba. The screw in the middle doesn't tighten up to even hold the weight of two microphones without bending over. Disappointing piece of garbage. Don't buy this.

I needed to compare the new ribbon mic to my current condenser mic side by side, literally.

I needed to place two microphones right next to each other and this one does the job. There's not much to say, it's well made and seems durable.

  • Decent product with a core design flaw

There's one design flaw that makes this product problematic out of the box. The holes on the bar are threaded, so it makes it impossible to adjust the angles of the microphones as you desire and have them stay in place. 5 minutes of stripping the threads off those holes with a drill (could use a metal file) and it works perfectly.

The machining is very poor. The adjusting nuts will not cinch down in the position you choose. This makes the product useless.
