The sustain and overall tone of the mahogany body is just beautiful. The warmer tone adds some bass to the small body that really balances it out. The feel of the fingerboard and neck really reveals the craftsmanship of the guitar. I have a Taylor that I love, but this guitar is just better in almost every way. In regards to tone, this thing really shines for big chord strumming. I play mainly modern worship music and this guitar does it perfectly. One thing that surprised me was how much better this guitar retains sustain with a capo up on the 4th, 5th, or 6th fret. My Taylor looses a lot of that beyond the the 3rd fret. Great for finger picking, but with the smaller body the low E doesn't quite ring as much as id prefer. But the tone is so smooth that finger picking has a uniquely beautiful sound on this guitar. There are 2 cons I would point out. First is the case it comes with. It's a junk soft case. Bought an aftermarket hard case almost immediately. At this price point, and for a USA guitar, I would expect a hard case. 2nd, is that it doesn't come with pre-installed electronics. I had a heck of a time picking out the right pickup for it, and the install process was a pain. I had to have an internal brace shaved down to fit the PU preamp. Taylor has the absolute best built in electronics. So never have to worry about it, and don't have to deal with a luthier. For my Martin I had to take it to two different places, because the first botched the install. Components wouldn't stick, battery pack fell off, and wires rattled. None of that has anything to do with Martin, other than the fact that I wish it came with a professionally fited and installed PU by Martin. So, to get the guitar gig ready I needed to invest in a case and PU. That cost me several hundred dollars, that if you get a Taylor 314, you would have included for the price. Just something to consider.

The sound was good. But it is a bit mediocre for a 00. Sweet mahogany sound. But not enough volume. The action is so high that the feel is off putting. I traded it for a Mexican D18 Martin and am happy. For the money, it's disappointing.

Bought this after trying 5-6 similar guitars, all Taylors or Martins. This was the best sounding one, better than the acoustic-electrics, and the solid mahogany body makes the sound reverberate beautifully. Finish is top notch, and its very light for the sound it produces. Superfan!

I am loving this guitar. It feels great. The mahogany has got a really rich sound. It's light weight and small. The set up was nice. And, it's a Martin. I'll be playing this guitar for a long time to come.

The finish is...fine. It's not so much overdone as it's superficial, looks printed on. The tuners look cool, but aren't the most comfortable to use. But the way it feels, plays, sounds ...even how it smells is just magic. One of my favorite guitars ever.

Super light and small feel makes it a great house guitar. It is the most comfortable guitar I have sat with. Fits me perfect. It is very hard to put up once your start playing. Love the sound. You know it's a Martin by the first strum. Definitely recommend trying it on the next time you have a Martin in your sights. GC had one in the box ready to go
