Description
The Martin Special X Series Rosewood Top dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar is a bold evolution of Martin's storied X series. Boasting a hand-rubbed solid spruce top and figured rosewood high-pressure laminate back and sides, this sleek dreadnought pumps out full-bodied tone with striking looks to match. Under the hood, innovative Fishman electronics let you plug in and command a variety of studio and stage settings. A slim, ergonomic neck, and premium nut and saddle keep playability at the fore, whether recording at home or gigging late into the night.
Fishman Electronics Provide Unparalleled Control
The Special X Series Rosewood Top dreadnought comes equipped with Fishman electronics for plugging in with power and polish. Fishman is an industry leader in acoustic amplification, and their discreet yet robust pickup system grants this Martin enviable plugged-in tone with intuitive control over EQ, volume and more. Dial-in your tone of choice for any gig or session.
Hand-Rubbed Solid Spruce Top Sings
At the heart of the Special X Series Rosewood Top dreadnought's tone is a hand-rubbed solid spruce top, one of the most sonically revered tonewoods for acoustic instruments. Spruce is highly responsive, projecting full, balanced tone with bell-like highs, warm lows and rich harmonic overtones. Solid spruce paired with the guitar's rosewood laminate back and sides makes for an instrument that sings with depth and nuance.
Neck and Nut Engineered for Comfort
Whether recording late into the night or gigging for hours on end, the Special X Series Rosewood Top dreadnought keeps you comfortable throughout. Its slim Performing Artist neck profile minimizes hand fatigue, while a compensated TUSQ nut and saddle boost sustain and intonation accuracy. Playability perks abound in this value-packed dreadnought, ready for any stage or studio adventure.
Road-Worthy Build for Real-World Use
Martin built the Special X Series Rosewood Top dreadnought to handle the rigors of life on the road or in challenging environments. Its rosewood laminate back and sides are highly resistant to temperature and humidity changes, keeping your instrument safe from the elements on outdoor gigs or in uncontrolled climates. A padded gig bag with durable water-repellent exterior and interior padding protects the entire guitar for transport and storage. Cant say enough about this guitar. I've played several acoustics and I can say that I am in love with the sound of this guitar. For the price I can say that it is worth it, can not stop playing it.
warning not made of real wood

Beware this guitar is made of laminated material, Formica just like your counter tops, it plays ok with a pick plugged into an amp. If you play the acoustic like it should be played with no amp you lose all of your tone. The only real piece of wood on this is the neck and bracings, the fretboard feels like plastic. Extremely disappointed this came from a reputable company like Martin. They should be ashamed of themselves. I am returning this.
I would buy this guitar again.

I'm loving this guitar. It's one of a kind. Thanks to Martin guitars . You can find a Great Guitar for a reasonable price. They have what it takes to make a guitar for the working class. And use it any time at any place. Very very nice job. Vic

I wanted a Martin of some type till I jump to a D28; this guitar, for the money, plays far better than most in its price range. There are many, many choices for the consumer now with guitars, but this guitar feels great (1.75" nut width), sounds wonderful, and will serve you well.
Unbelievable.

This guitar sounds exactly like my $2,850.00 Rainsong (which is my favorite guitar a mong many) it has the same resistance to low or high humidity, and it costs five ti nes less. Unbelievable.

Its great plugged in, and sounds rich and full unplugged. It is impervious to dings, and it was very inexpensive for the brand, but has that sound only Martin delivers. The Rosewood design is dark and rich and it looks beautiful.
