Description
HCS Cymbals
Meinl HCS cymbals are recommended for any style of music a beginner may be getting into while exploring their sound. These cymbals are an outstanding starting point for aspiring drummers to begin bringing cymbals into their drum setups. The HCS series from MEINL cymbals is designed to offer cymbal types and sizes normally found in professional lines to beginners, in order to deliver the same sound options a professional drummer may look for.
These are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets. They have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players. Playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play. Plus, they aren't going to fall apart, dent or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals.

Best Deal For Beginners!
This is an awesome deal. It includes a pair of 13" hi-hats, a 14" crash, and a 10" splash. None of them sound great, but they are decent and durable. There are even ProMark hickory drum sticks and Online video lessons included. I tend to play mostly hi-hats and crashes, I don't play the ride cymbal as much. So this cymbal set is a perfect match for me. You can always add a ride cymbal later. The hi-hats are nice, the splash is ok, and the crash is meh. Of course Paiste, Sabian and Zildjian are all great cymbal makers but they are more expensive. And their "budget" cymbals don't sound any better. Start with these and move up.

Good as a starter kit or expansion to another set
I bought this to expand on a larger HCS set and it added lighter sounds that set didn't have. The 13" HH have excellent crispness closed but poor wash loose or open. The 14" Crash is a good low volume option with a splashy feel. Buy this and an HCS ride for a new player.

Meinl Cymbals are decent if you don't have lots of money to spend or if your band is quite small. But if you have the money, buy Zildjian.
