MEINL

collapse expand iconDescription

The Trash Hat by Meinl can be used on either a regular x-hat, or on a cymbal stand. It combines two different applications in one instrument. Either way it produces a dry, rattling and sizzling sound with a dry, immediate response. Holes in the top and bottom eliminate air lock for maximum clarity.

Meinl's Generation X Series offers a full range of special effect sounds previously not available. Years of input have led to the FX9 alloy and the unique shapes and configurations. Fast, explosive attack with quick decay make Gen X cymbals fit where other cymbals won't. Add a crazy new tone color to your setup today.

When i first got them, I thought they felt cheap; Benny's video shows him bending the 12" top hat, and I should have paid attention to that. However, once I set them up and played for a few days, I've concluded it was a great purchase for the money. Each sounds decent on its own, but I prefer them set up as a single "accent" cymbal, 12" on top of the 14". The sound cuts through everything; a sharp attack that can be soft enough to sound like a loose hi-hat, or a small china with little sustain - just what I was looking for. If you're creative, or like having sounds that turn heads, these are well worth the purchase
