have a LP Generation II set of bongos and wanted something new. I was torn between the Giovanni Galaxy and these the Gajate ....well I'm glad I chose the Gajate. Not only are they a beautiful looking set with the rich Mavi color contrasting the chrome hardware, but they sound fantastic. I only heard a brief demo by Richie Gajate Garcia on LP's website...but what I heard sounded warm and full. Sure I enjoy the snappy high pitched sound you get from the Galaxy but these deliver that as well and as a sound similar to a kit. I play my bongos with a feel more like achieving the sound from my drum kit...and this delivers. This wood is used in many acoustic instruments including upright bass and guitars. The sound is full-deep-rich-and warm. I love these bongos!!!!!!!!! BTW Zach who is a rep with Guitar Center helped me immensely with his World Class Customer Service Skills
