Overview

The Kramer Assault 220 electric guitar features a single-cutaway mahogany body with a set mahogany neck that has a thin-tapered profile that makes playing effortless. A 24-fret rosewood fingerboard sports thorn-shaped position inlays. A licensed Floyd Rose vibrato is onboard for plenty of performance-enhancing fun. Electronics include dual Alnico V humbucking pickups with a master volume, master tone with push/pull coil-splitting for additional single-coil sounds, and a 3-way selector. The Volume on the Kramer Assault 220 guitar features what Kramer calls the "treble bleed" mod that lets you keep your tone bright when backing down the volume control.

In the mid-1970s, when Kramer Guitars began, they were exclusively producing aluminum necked guitars. In 1982, Kramer cemented an exclusive distribution deal with Floyd Rose. Kramer guitars were also loaded with additional features like Schaller tuners and Seymour Duncan pickups. With the endorsement of Eddie Van Halen, Kramer became the world's best selling guitar in the mid-80s. The Gibson Guitar Company has bought the revered Kramer brand and has reissued many of the historic Kramer models and introduced modern design innovations as well. Kramer players include a who's who of rock guitarists with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Sambora, Mick Mars, & Vivian Campbell among them!

Comments about Kramer Assault 220 Electric Guitar:

This is an excellent guitar. I was not sure what to expect as I got this right off the site. The pickups are pretty hot the coil tap is a nice feature. You will not get a "strat" or Tele sound however. Split into single coils it just mellows out a bit. The neck is almost flat great for shredding. The guitar arrived setup perfectly and in tune no less. I've probably owned 30 guitar over the years I can't imagine that anything out there is a better value for the price. This guitar sounds and plays as well as a Les Plus with a little more heat.

Comments about Kramer Assault 220 Electric Guitar:

When this guitar arrived as a fresh in box online order, I was not happy with the feel. It also was not set up properly or tuned. I got the white with black binding version. It looks nice. I worked on the setup and put Elixir OptiWeb strings on it in 9-42. I reduced the tension on the springs on the tremolo. Still wasn't playing good until I relieved the tension on the truss rod and let the neck rest for a few days. Though it does not have the sustain of my Les Paul guitars, it is now one of my favorites because of the carved top (non maple) and the licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. The frets are not jumbo. For the price this is a nice fun playing guitar. And learning to set it up properly doesn't jeopardize a more expensive guitar while you are learning to set up a guitar with a locking tremolo.

Comments about Kramer Assault 220 Electric Guitar:

I've had my Assault (the black and red one) for almost 4 years now, and it's in my regular guitar rotation with my Les Paul and a Tele. This guitar has a harder, crunchier sound to rock, and the sustain is very good especially considering that this is the lightest guitar that I have. I like the split coils, and the tone is very good all around. I also like that there is an extra fret for really high notes that allow for some unique harmonizing with other guitar players. I'm considering ordering another one without the tremolo system since I never use it.

They said it comes with a Floyd rose tremelo, but it came with a Kramer wammy bar, also it was built in Indonesia.

Comments about Kramer Assault 220 Electric Guitar:

I've had my Kramer Assault for around 5 years now and have moved on from it, to 7 and 8 string guitars. But let me tell you. When I play a 6 string, It's always the Kramer! It's an absolutely outstanding guitar! Beautiful cleans when put into a mellow tone and then face melting heavy with the gains! The guitar overall just feels so sturdy and well build. I've been in a band for the past 6 years and have played quite a few shows with my Kramer Assault before we switched to more strings. Not only did I love it, but I had gotten countless people come up to me asking me about it and how much I had gotten it for. These red and black Kramer Assaults really know how to please the crowds eyes as well as your own! Highly recommend the buy.

Love the look and feel of this guitar and the 24 frets and Floyd Rose are more reason for my purchase. Love the Black with red binding and it plays great. Excellent for the price!!
