Almost have to also buy the carry bag as it is heavier and wider one end. Support arms falling down when not vertical is also less an issue with bag. This unit was incredibly stable for pounding honky tonk in Rip this Joint.
It is worth the money!

The legs make it great to put pedals underneath the stand! This is a problem with other column stands.
Happy with purchase

Solid stand. Really like you can add boom to top for mic. A little awkward to carry. Otherwise great!
Good Choice For A Column Stand With A Few Concerns

I've been using USS Apex stands for decades when playing live, pretty much since I got my first on in 1987. Yeah, I'm that old. Great stands, but my most recent version, purchased three years ago, became a problem in two regards: a deep keyboard on the top tier (a Montage6) was completely obscuring the bottom keyboard control surface (a Korg Kronos73), and the front "legs" that run along the floor in the front damaged a couple of controller pedal cables. The Spider gives me an angled upper brace that lets me see the Kronos easily, taking care of the first part, the raised column design saves my pedals. Yay! And it looks awesome. Black would have been preferable, but not for the extra hundred they're charging for it. That said, still early days with the unit. Here are the nits: o The shelf locking mechanism seems very flimsy. Apex locks are very robust, and I only ever had one go out on me, and that on a 15 year old unit. I did leave the unit set up and loaded with keyboards for a week, and there didn't seem to be any issues, however. This is just my engineer self anticipating issues in the future. o The support arm locking system also seems to be flimsy. I like that you can set the arm length, but everything feels much looser than the Apex. That may be a functional design choice, but I'll be watching it closely. End caps on the upper arms also seem flimsy, and don't fit the front edge of the Montage all that well. o The unit requires a bit more work to set up and tear down, but nothing like a z stand with an extra tier takes. You'll want to mark your lock positions with a little tape as you reset them during breakdown. o The screw to add a boom or accessory is ridiculous, I'll be amazed if it lasts a month. Even replacing the cheap plastic adapter with a metal version doesn't keep the boom from jiggling, I move mine a lot during performance and I will probably just go to a traditional boom instead, although I may consider the tablet holder add-on.
Great Stand!
