Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

Ibanez proudly presents the RGA42EX Standard Electric Guitar. This solidbody electric guitar is built for high-speed, physically demanding rock, metal and blues. Its sleekly sculpted meranti body and maple Wizard III neck offer fast, unrestricted playability for power chords, riffing and shredding. This iconic yet affordable instrument to musicians seeking a guitar that matches their talent and intensity.

Quantum Humbucking Pickups Provide Crushing Tone

The RGA42EX packs a sonic punch with dual Quantum humbucking pickups. These pickups provide accelerated bass response and fast note tracking for high-speed staccato riffing. Their wide frequency range delivers a crushing midrange, articulate high end and tight low end. Five-way switching gives you access to a variety of pickup combinations so you can shape your tone to perfection.

Hardtail Bridge Provides Rock-Solid Stability

The RGA42EX features an F106 hardtail bridge for exceptional tuning stability and sustain. Each string can be individually adjusted for perfect intonation and action. Because there are no moving bridge parts, the hardtail design minimizes tuning issues that can occur with vibrato bridges. The rock-solid bridge anchors the RGA42EX with a tone that's tight, focused and feedback resistant.

Contemporary Esthetics Meet Timeless Playability

With its matte black finish, sculpted body and pickguard-free design, the RGA42EX has a sleek, modern look. But beneath its contemporary esthetics beats the heart of a classic rock guitar. Everything about this ax—from its resonant tonewoods and hot humbuckers to its fast neck and hardtail bridge—is aimed at no-holds-barred playing. The RGA42EX delivers legendary Ibanez performance and reliability at an affordable price from .

I like to play guitar in my free time just for fun. It's sound great, time is warm and bright. It's also great for high gain distortion and things like that with the humbucker pickups. #sweepstakes

This thing is beautiful ! As for playability it is extremely versatile and feels so smooth! The 5 way switch and pickups sound great better than guitars that I have spent much more money on. There was a lot of buzz on the first couple frets but loosened the truss rod a tad and perfect

  • Nice Ibanez

Purchased to give as a Christmas gift. The color of this Ibanez drew my son immediately to it. It's black. It's purple. It's very cool. I read some reviews that said it may be a bit overpriced compared to others you can get in that price range. Regardless, it does play quite well. May need a set up but it's not bad. Pickups are hot. Does give a good sound on a clean channel when you dial down the volume. Responds well with OD. The neck feels good. Flat and easy to play. Easy to reach upper frets. Overall, the fretwork isn't bad. Smooth.

The guitar itself is great, however it did have fret buzz on the first 3 frets. It was my fault for not getting the warranty, otherwise I would've just had guitar center fix it. I'm not unhappy whatsoever with the guitar as I will get the fret buzz fixed at a local shop.

  • I would buy this guitar again

I use this guitar to jam, and practice almost daily with. I haven't found anything that I can't do with the guitar. Super great playability straight out of the box. For my first Ibanez, it's proving to be a great choice.

  • Great Ibanez for the price, and then some.

I was looking for a double Humbucker guitar I could use for a project, as I have a Set of SS Invaders just chilling, waiting for a home. This thing exceeded expectations as far as looks, and setup was great out of the box, with no fret buzz, which is unusual. So not only was this a great value out of the box, but basically it will get better with upgrades. I also plan on putting on Graphtech saddles along with the Invaders, not that the bridge that came on it isn't good quality, but it's a preference thing. So far, no tuning issues, so no need for tuner upgrades yet. So yourself a favor, and but one of these, you won't be dissappointed, especially with it's upgrade potential.
