Greatest guitar I've ever played

They way you can play anything on this guitar is immaculate, you can play clean and heavy and play in any style, it also holds amazing tune, I drop tune alot and it holds tune so good when I tune back up, one thing I don't like is that the fretboard is quite dry and when playing its kinda hard.
my first electric, its pretty neat

Pretty sweet guitar for under 300 USD

This thing is sweet. It's definitely really good for under 300. Recently picked up another guitar that was twice it's price and had 2X the QC issues. There was a few small imperfections in the finish, but not bad really. Very small and you'd have to really look for the problem. The neck is good, a little chunkier than most Ibanez guitars are at top frets near the nut. I'm not a big fan of the pickups but they are decent. I changed the tuning machines to locking tuners, but that wasn't really necessary. I guess my biggest gripe is when I set mine up, the grub screws on the bridge for the saddles stick up quite a bit, and for some, it can dig into their hands. I'd recommend getting shorter grub screws for the bridge. I always find myself picking this thing up because it's the most affordable, and lightest guitar in my collection. Thing is definitely sweet for a beginner or for someone who wants a good jamming guitar that they aren't too worried about.

I purchased this guitar as an intermediate player. I had the tech at GC do a set up on it. It looks, sounds and plays great. The workmanship out of he box was very good. Very nice fret work, no sharp edges. Very happy with this guitar. Just keep in mind that to get its full capabilities it will likely need a set up but this is common with most any guitar you buy. I would definitely buy this guitar again.

What are the default strings gauges for this guitar and what tunings would it be good to play it in?
It will work with most light to middle gauge strings (it comes with light gauge strings) and most standard and drop tuning. If you use the thickest gauge strings possible you may run into fret buzz and require an adjustment.
