NEW for 2021 - Guild BT-258E Deluxe Baritone

Description
Guild's BT-258E Deluxe 8-String Baritone acoustic-electric guitar opens up a world of musical possibilities with its innovative design. The BT-258E features an eight-string configuration with a five-step lower tuning that produces a symphonic blend of bass and treble frequencies. The rosewood back and sides provide a solid low-end foundation, while the solid spruce top allows the higher octave strings to ring out with clarity. The result is a harp-like tone that fills in the midrange and adds melodic layers.
Eight-String Design Offers Extended Range and Unique Sound
With its eight-string design and lowered tuning, the BT-258E delivers a one-of-a-kind baritone voice that spans bass and treble frequencies. The two additional strings expand the instrument's range by two octaves for a layered, harp-like tone. The lower five strings are tuned to B-E-A-D-F♯ to produce rich, resonant bass tones. The higher three strings are tuned to B-E-A, adding bell-like treble notes. Together, this innovative configuration creates a symphonic blend of lows and highs.
Rosewood Back and Sides Provide Rich, Warm Tone
The rosewood back and sides give the BT-258E a robust, well-balanced tone. Rosewood produces full, warm bass and midrange frequencies that provide a solid tonal foundation. The rosewood also helps project the instrument's sound, allowing the BT-258E to fill a room with its resonant baritone voice. The rosewood's clear high-end response also helps the higher octave strings ring out with shimmering treble overtones.
Solid Spruce Top Ensures Articulate Sound Across All Registers
The BT-258E features a solid Sitka spruce top that helps produce an articulate, balanced tone across all eight strings. Spruce is a responsive tonewood that provides clear, focused sound with balanced frequency response. On the BT-258E, the spruce top helps the lower baritone strings resonate with depth and warmth while also allowing the higher octave strings to ring out with clarity. The result is a fusion of bass and treble that blends into a cohesive, symphonic whole.
Mahogany Neck Offers Comfortable Playability
The BT-258E has a mahogany neck that provides a comfortable playing experience. Mahogany produces a lightweight, balanced neck that makes it easy to navigate the instrument's 25.5" scale length and 1.69" nut width. The mahogany neck also enhances sustain and helps project the rosewood and spruce tonewoods. Overall, the BT-258E's mahogany neck offers an accessible platform for experienced players to explore the creative possibilities of its eight-string baritone design.

excellent guitar at an excellent price

I have been looking at Baritone guitars for quite a while now and settled on the Guild 8 string Baritone some time ago. The impending tariffs hastened my decision and I am extremely happy with my choice. The fit and finish are above my expectations. The action is very good and the frets are dressed cleanly so that it is comfortable to play at any position up and down the neck. I was expecting to have a setup completed after my purchase but it was not necessary as the guitar action and intonation is so good. I love the appearance of the guitar. Its white neck binding and inlay in the rosette and on the peg head reflect the attention to details that make this guitar an exceptional value. This guitar does not come with a case but that results in keeping the price quite reasonable and enables the owner to choose the amount of protection that they are comfortable with. The longer scale length took just a little getting used to but it was an easy transition as was getting used to the double third and fourth strings but the sound is very rich and I am very glad I bought this wonderful instrument. I was looking for a guitar with a lower tonal range and the Guild baritone exceeds my expectations. It is exactly what I was looking to add to my collection.

Took the plunge from using a dreadnought with baritone strings and I couldn't be happier. Excellent low end response and the two extra strings give it that little extra depth that makes it sound special. Very little set up required out of the box. My new go to guitar on stage.

I play a Taylor 714ce, but didn't want to break the bank with a purchase of a Taylor baritone. First of all the Guild is a good looking guitar, no issues with that. I open the brand "NEW" box and inspected everything and realized that this thing was previously played. Frets have a little scuff wear, no biggie. The pick guitar has a couple of scuff marks, no biggie. The action is a little off, no biggie, but the real test is playing and the tone. Have you ever played a guitar and said wow, "I feel you"? I felt that way when I tried my first baritone, when it was the deal of the day. The Alvarez ABT610E. I was like wow, I'm digging this thing, but i returned it cuz the electronics were not even attached and sloppily made. So I decided to try an "upgrade" with the Guild and after playing it, I'm just not impressed. It's cool, but it's just not the same feeling or tone. I just can't explain it. I just don't feel it, hence I'm going to return it and jump on another Alvarez.

I have only had my baritone guitar for a few days, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I am usually a Taylor guy, but Guild has done so well that I am loving not only their 12 string but this one as well. This guitar has a rich deep sound, and gives you so many great ways to voice your favorite songs in new ways. Elixir even makes strings for this guitar, which I have installed and really, really enjoy. The lowest string is so thick that it is difficult to install, but that is the only borderline complaint I have about this guitar. It is truly amazing especially at this price point.

Always in the back of my mind that I would like a baritone guitar. Saw and heard one at a hootenanny and I knew I wanted one. On top of that it is a Guild. The additional strings adds a fullness to the cords. Can't wait to hear how it meshes with other instruments.
