Gretsch Drums

collapse expand iconDescription

The Gretsch Catalina Club Classic is a four-piece drum set for the active player who needs great sound out of a kit that sets up and tears down quickly and easily. Featuring mahogany shells with 30-degree bearing edges and a natural interior, this set projects a warm, punchy, classic tone.

The 20x14" bass drum is easy to handle and has a full-bodied voice with plenty of punch. When combined with the 12" tom and 14" floor tom, the resulting combination is a drum set with outstanding tone—ready to tackle anything from jazz to fusion, to blues, to rock.

The drums are crowned with chrome 1.6 mm triple-flanged hoops for firm rimshots and accents. They also come equipped with custom Gretsch Remo heads straight out of the box. As of 2014, this kit is now available with a satin walnut finish.

Cymbals and hardware not included.

Had this for about 5 years now and I can't tell you how many sound guys have complimented this kit after a show. Tuned right, it really soars. Especially for how lightweight these drums are, they can punch well above their pay grade. Speaking of, that's another one of the best parts about this kit: the ease of transport is just undeniable, easy to carry, easy to manuever without compromising body of sound. That being said, my only personal drawback about this kit is the snare that comes with it. While the other three pieces are versatile, some might find the snare unable to do justice to louder genres. I've enjoyed the snare on some jazz gigs, but replace it with a Brooklyn Steel snare for most others, and I feel like all my bases are covered. If you're looking for a budget kit to main with for a long time, this is 100% the move.

These are great drums. Tuned up they sound awesome. The only bad thing is the lugs. They are terrible. If they put higher quality lugs on these drums they would be a 5 star. Not the pro lugs but something better that thread up smoothly. These are really terrible .

  • The best kit I've ever owned. I've had pearl, Tama, Ludwig

I was afraid to get this kit because I had the breakbeats kit, which although a good kit, had a lot of flaws. I was scared because I didn't know if I could get a quality club kit for under $1000. Luckily this kit fit all my needs! A great sound for anywhere from jazz to rock to blues to pop. Works great my basement shows and for my wedding gigs. Definitely a must have.
