D'Addario Core: How to Change and Tune a Snare Drum (Bottom)

Description
The Evans Genera Coated Snare Head is a high-performance drumhead built for working drummers. Featuring a single-ply, 10-mil film and an integrated 2-mil overtone control ring, the Genera Coated delivers a focused yet full-bodied tone with minimal overtones. The coated finish provides added warmth, resonance and durability. Whether you're playing jazz, rock or anything in between, the Genera Coated helps your snare drum sing while keeping it under control.
Overtone Control Ring Tames Excess Ring
The Genera Coated's built-in overtone control ring helps eliminate excessive ring and overtones. The ring floats on the bottom of the head to absorb unwanted frequencies, resulting in a focused, controlled tone. Your snare will have plenty of body and sensitivity but without the ringing aftereffects.
Coated Finish Boosts Warmth and Playability
The Genera Coated features a coated finish, adding warmth, resonance and durability. The textured coating helps produce a broader range of tones and allows your sticks to rebound effortlessly. Whether you prefer light brushes or heavy sticks, the Genera Coated handles it all while keeping your snare drum responsive.
High-Quality 10-Mil Film for Versatility
At the heart of the Genera Coated is a single-ply, 10-mil film that provides an excellent blend of sensitivity and durability. The medium-weight film is thick enough to produce a full tone but thin enough to remain highly responsive. This versatile construction makes the Genera Coated Head suitable for any musical style. Your snare drum will cut through when you need it to but can also be dialed back when subtlety is key.

I bought this for a used snare I also got at Guitar Center and love. I'm just learning to drum and it suits my kit and is not too loud.
Great snare head

I used the vented version of this for years but I wanted my snare to have a bit more life on it. I usually dampen it a bit on a standard single ply head. The underside dampening ring gives the perfect balance. Less than a external ring on top and similar to a gel to dampen the high pitched resonance.

Works well with wooden or metal snare drums.

Easiest head I've ever change and tuned. Literally like 3 minutes to get it on and tuned with a great sound. Completely fixes over tones and excessive ringing.on the snare. It is true to the "dry" name.

I use this head on a few of my maple snares. Works great for me in a Jazz funk setting. Tune it high or low and it just works. No surprise and super consistent. As a side note I use the reverse dot for on an older 5 x 14 brass snare. I can't seem to get a good enough rimshot ring with the Genera on that drum.
