This bass is as nice as some costing more, just needing a change of strings and a little adjustment or two, it plays great and I love the thin neck. It sounds like a Dean should, awesome!

I was very dissapointed when I got this thing in the mail. I'll just cut to the chase on this one. The bass is large, clangy, heavy, and hard to use. The bass itself has alright tone, although it's really only good for a driving sound. BUT, the one thing I WAS impressed with about it is its performance in drop tunings. It can even go into drop A. But I really don't think it's worth the tradeoff. You really won't shred on this thing. But, if you are a stage lemon and are large and like to play in drop tunings, (like several death metal bassists.) Then this is the bass for you.

this is a very good bass .. it was a backup to my vintage warlock bass, so far it has become my primary, since my warlock is in need of minor repairs. i love the action, low profile maple neck, very fast action.the body design is wicked, (despite that im not a dimebag fan, sorry). the only things i dont like about this bass is: 1) the nut- its made of plastic. my original warlock that got stolen, (prior to the warlock i had mentioned before) had a brass nut. this will wear out sooner than expected. 2) the humbucking pickup - isn't too sensitive to tapping, hammer ons, and vibratto. you will need a pedal to boost these actions, has a good crunch to its sound tho, great for rhythm. also this bass is HUGE. not heavy just really long. despite its length, it only has a 22 fret neck. thats all. thrash till death!!!

Now the reason I gave this 4 stars is because this is not deans best bass. But I will say that it plays better than all the basses I've played at guitarcenter's store which includes a warwick. This bass has a low action it's very easy to play. you can play a lot of fast stuff on this. Over all its a great bass for the money. because it plays like a 600 dollar bass.

Does it djent?
Yes. The pickups take low-end very well so any drop tuning you dive into will have a really nice punch to it.submitted6 years ago

Is the metalman basses such as the Z, ML, and V good for beginners that want that low growling sound? and what would be a good tuning for them with the factory strings? Amp I have for bass is the fender rumble 25 1x8 25 watt.
This bass would be a good choice for producing a low growling tone. It would work well tuned to standard E, Drop D or drop C tunings.
