Pleasantly surprised; I highly recommend this kit!

I recently moved into an apartment after years of being a homeowner with a full basement for drums/band practice. Suffered months of not playing the drums before buying this set. I was very skeptical until I tried it out. It's not silent by any means, but should be quiet enough to stay out of trouble with neighbors (working so far anyway!) The feel of the pads is about as realistic as any pad I've tried before, which is to say that it definitely feels different than real drums, but is good enough to be able to do most of the buzzes, ghost notes, etc. that you're used to doing on real drums. The bounce of the kick pad is different than I'm used to, but it was easy enough to adjust to and has actually helped make me aware of some sloppy technique on my part (sort of pressing the pedal into the drumhead continuously after certain hits, creating an unintentional roll of sorts on the kick) so I think it will make me an even better player when I can finally cut loose on my real drums again. I don't play especially hard, but I was really amazed at how sturdy the setup is, especially for being so compact and based on only one stand. I expected a lot of wobble, swing, or weird vibrations, but have had no problems so far. The flexibility of pad placement is also far better than I expected for such a simple design. I played a simple 4 piece kit before and had no trouble at all setting these pads up to match my 4 drums and using the last pad as a stand-in for where my ride cymbal would be. I'm currently using my real hi-hat stand and cymbals with foam pads on them, which I'm not thrilled with, but the overall layout and ability to practice things exactly the way I would really play them is fantastic. If I can find better hi-hats (looking at plastic cymbals right now but not sure), this will be the perfect practice setup!

Does the job, but not as well as it could.

The first thing I noticed about this practice pad is that the bolts that hold the arms for the pads in place come loose. Often. It's really annoying when you are really into playing a song and you have to stop and tighten the bolts. Maybe if you used a ratchet or something to tighten them it would be ok, but with my drum key I couldn't get them tight enough. Another thing is the price. Not a fan, but they more or less are the only ones making anything like this, so I guess thats why. For the pros: The stand is burly. I like how the kick plate and kick clamp is adjustable. And the pads hold up. The different sizes also make for different sounds, so it makes it seem a bit more musical. I also used this stand for my Pearl drum set as a tom mount. Worked really well for that. All in all, I don't really feel that its worth the coin. But that's a matter of opinion.

This is a very good practice tool without annoying my husband. Even though, the picture in Guitar Center catalog and the manufacture's office picture on the box has the foot pedal, it does not come with a pedal. Double pedal works fine with this.

Does what it was built to do - good practice rig. Flexible but requires some setup to match your specific setup.

The DW practice set provides a good way to get the limbs moving, rather than remaining stationary on just one practice pad. The main drawback on this pad set is the limited mobility of the pads to mirror actual drum kit setup. Overall, it does the job for silent practice. #sweepstakes

I was looking for a practice kit that I can play without disturbing anyone. This kit has proven to be very resourceful. It was fairly easy to assemble and it does just what it's supposed to do.

I believe you can. If you're talking about swapping them out for other pads, yes, as for adding more to it, that may prove to be more difficult.

This does not come with the kick pedal. The DW complete Go Anywhere Practice Set includes two 8" drum pads for tom and cymbal, two 10" drum pads for snare and floor tom, one bass drum pad, stand, and all mounting hardware. Pedal sold separately
