collapse expand iconDescription

The D'Addario XT Nickel Plated Steel long-scale bass strings are perfect for the bassist seeking rich tone and longevity. The D'Addario XT coated strings combine D'Addario's most popular electric bass guitar alloy with an advanced corrosion resistance treatment on every string in the set, preserving the natural tone and feel of uncoated strings. Available in a variety of gauges for four and five stringed, long-scale basses, the Light Top/Medium Bottom Long Scale 45-105 gauge set provides versatile tone and playability. The XT Bass strings are ideal for bassists who demand peak performance and value.

Preserve Tone and Feel With Advanced Coating

D'Addario leveraged an innovative coating process to treat each string in the XT Bass set, enhancing durability and corrosion resistance without sacrificing the natural, uncoated tone and feel that bassists crave. The specialized treatment allows the strings to glide smoothly along the fretboard while preventing premature dulling and tone loss. Bassists can enjoy consistent, dynamic tone for an extended period of time.

Light Top/Medium Bottom Gauge for Versatile Playability

The Light Top/Medium Bottom 45-105 gauge set features lighter strings on the higher-pitched E, A and D strings for comfortable, nimble playing, while the lower-pitched G and B strings provide thicker, meatier tone. This versatile configuration suits a range of musical styles and playing techniques. The long scale length of 34" complements most standard bass guitars, producing clear, balanced tone across all strings.

Premium Materials Deliver Superior Performance

D'Addario leverages high-quality materials and innovative technology to design premium electric bass strings. The XT Bass strings contain nickel-plated steel, D'Addario's most popular bass string alloy, chosen for its ability to produce warm, bright tone with rich overtones and clear fundamentals. String cores and wrapping wires go through D'Addario's strict quality control processes to ensure consistency, strength and tone. The specialized coating treatment enhances the natural properties of these premium materials, allowing bassists to experience their full tonal potential.

A Legacy of Innovation from D'Addario

For over a century, D'Addario has pioneered string design and technology. The XT Bass strings uphold this legacy of innovation, leveraging an advanced coating process to dramatically improve string lifespan without compromising tone. D'Addario's commitment to quality and performance is evident in every set of XT Bass strings, giving bassists the tools they need to reach new heights.

My favs!

These are my favorite bass strings, alongside the 45-100 gauge set. Besides lasting forever and intonating extremely well, they have a highly musical tone that is just bright enough. I have this series on all of my basses (except for my short scale), and they help the bass sit at just the right frequency in the mix-- from blues to modern rock and everything in between. Never too harsh, but just the right amount of bite. Compared to other brands I have played, I find that these have just enough texture (some rounds are really rough) to feel good. I am also a big fan of the tension. They feel more flexible then some other comparable sets that I have tried. If you are on the fence, definitely give these a try. You won't even notice the coating-- it'll be the quality of the strings themselves that will keep you coming back.

Not pleased with the effect of the coating

I have enjoyed the non coated version of this nickel wound bass string, but their coating kills the tone and feel. Sounds almost like dead strings when they are brand new. Will not buy again.

I had been struggling to find a set of good rounds that would die within a week of playing them and here they are. I have had them on for 2 weeks and they're still going strong with daily use of about an hour. They're not too bright and they cut through the mix perfectly.

Been playing bass for about 25 years, and these are hands down my favorite strings. Really bright sound for slapping and funk music. Last a long time as well. One thing to note, they do not fit long-scale/fanned fret basses. The tapered end is longer than it needs to be. Still, great strings.
