D'Addario

collapse expand iconDescription

D'Addario's NYXL45130 bass strings provide the ultimate upgrade for your instrument. These long-scale strings are precision engineered to deliver enhanced bass tone with exceptional dynamic range and harmonic richness. NYXL's nickel-plated steel wrap and steel core boast powerful lows, robust midrange, and brilliant high end. Whether you favor the deep dubstep drops of electronic music or the intricate rhythms of progressive rock, the NYXL45130 set helps you shape your unique sound.

Nickel-Plated Steel Wrap Boosts Output and Sustain

D'Addario's nickel-plated steel wrap wire is the key to the NYXL45130's peerless performance. The plated wrap has increased magnetic properties that generate higher output, sustain, and harmonic overtones. This innovative wrap, combined with NYXL's high-carbon steel core, provides taut, flexible strings with unparalleled dynamic range. The NYXL45130's enhanced frequency response lets you hear—and feel—each note with stunning clarity.

Precision Gage Combinations For Any Playing Style

Whether you favor a pick, fingers, or slap technique, the NYXL45130's gauges are optimized for your personal playing approach. The light top/heavy bottom 45-130 set balances tight, punchy highs with a throaty low B. The strings' wide gauge range also provides improved tension and intonation up and down the neck. Combined with warm, woody midrange, the NYXL45130's harmonic richness brings out the natural acoustic qualities of your bass.

Superior Tuning Stability and Long Life

While the NYXL45130's tone is stunning, its performance is equally impressive. The nickel-plated steel wrap is resistant to corrosion and buildup, so these strings stay clean and intonated longer. They also hold tune reliably through dive bombs, dropped tunings, and other sonic gymnastics. Whether recording in the studio or performing on stage, the NYXL45130's tuning stability gives you peace of mind. Overall, these innovative strings let you play with confidence and achieve your personal best.

I buy this product again and again

I believe the reports that these may break more readily than other strings. They have a slight brittleness to their feel, and that's why they sound the way they do. But they don't break easily. I've broken a G string during installation with the clamps on a headless bass, but never during a performance. Your playstyle will matter. When I plan to murder the strings, I use stainless.

Good strings, but not suited for higher tunings

I wanted some strings that I could get less resistanve on and tune up to a step and a half higher on my bass - the D string specifically faultered and unwound at the bridge during restringing... twice. From different packs. I love using NYXL super lights on my 6 string guitars and they make fast playing much easier, so I jumped on these but was a little disappointed when that string broke. All other strings are performing phenomenally, but my D string is from a different brand now. A good set, but not super impressive for the price point.

#sweepstekes I never used them before but i like the feel. A bit stiffer than my usual Slinkys but a great tone on my Stingray. Would like to try them on my Fender Jazz next.

I'm surprised these aren't rated 5 across the board. The 4-string NYXL pack is. I use these on standard and fretless basses, and particularly on fretless they cut through so sparkly in the mix, and have ridiculously long life for their price range.

  • Great strings!
