Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been playing guitar since 1983, and using D'Addario strings exclusively for most of that time. I've tried quite a few other popular brands (e.g., Dean Markley, Ernie Ball, etc), but always gravitated back to D'Addario XL120s (9 to 42 gauge). Probably a year ago, I decided to "upgrade" to D'Addario NYXL strings (also 9 to 42 gauge), and I definitely notice a difference in how long the strings last, both from a tone standpoint and breakage standpoint. I play mostly 70s and 80s inspired hard rock (Van Halen being my all-time favorite), and like do a lot of big bends (2 to 2 1/2 steps) quite often. While the XL120s did not break that often, occasionally the high E would. Not so with the NYXLs. Some people may balk at the price, given they are 2.5 times the cost of normal strings, but I think they are worth it given the fact that it results in you changing strings less often. It really hit home recently how reliable and solid these strings are when I purchased a new guitar which was freshly strung by the dealer with a different brand, and the high E snapped within 2 weeks. Some people may not be as aggressive with their strings as I am, and they may be just fine with standard strings, but for me, I can't go back now.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I have been changing strings on my guitars for 48 years. D'addario XL10 for twenty years. I change strings every 20 hours. Then comes along this young kid who recommended the new NYXL. Wow! I write very clean tone music. I couldn't believe my fingers. I gave away the last 10 sets of the XL's

Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I find that the D'Addario NYXL strings are terrific. I have used them for over a year now, and I have never broken a string. They seem to stay fresh for a long time, and after the initial stretch / break in period, they really hold tune well. Sure, they are pretty pricey, but they really are an excellent set of strings.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I took a lot of years off and I had stock 10s on my G&Ls that was killing my hands so I played those for a while and endured my shortcomings as my hands were in training to regain the strength of my youth. Then made the switch to Ernie Ball Hybrid 0946s and that felt better but still felt like a battle when playing faster licks and solos. A friend suggested that I try the NYXL0942. Wow! I felt like I was in a time warp and back to my old self from years ago. These NYXLs have initially withstood my bending and time will tell to see if they are as tough as advertised. Also they feel like I am playing nylon strings so they are a lot more comfortable. Could be the lighter gauge but I think the string design also has something to do with that. The only thing I notice is that they do not ring out as loudly as my previous strings but it does not matter when you plug in. Really glad about these strings and will probably be putting these on all my guitars.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

So I must have been one of the very very few to have a faulty pack where two strings broke while trying to tune.. Lucky for me my guitar center was cool enough to let me exchange these strings for a new pack because he wanted me to play these strings and see how much more I would like them. Well the second set I strung up and tuned without a problem and wow. I was using super slinky because I liked the feel to them and switched to these and it's like a whole new world. The strings feel great on my fingers and the bends are fantastic.. If you change your strings weekly or bi weekly they can get expensive but are definantly worth looking into these are going to be my go to strings from now on.

Comments about D'Addario NYXL0942 Super Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Dave Kislik from the Carle Place, NY Guitar Center recommended these strings to me. These strings have a bright sound, have a very light/smooth feel to them (not a lot of tension) and are nearly impossible to knock out of tune once properly stretched. These strings cost a little more but are definitely worth it, especially for live playing or just when you don't want to have to stop and tune your guitar a lot. They have a very long life too. I highly recommend these strings. Thanks Dave!!
